Am I reading this correctly? Is this the reason for the DII talk?

I don't wish to be quoted on this, but I THINK these penalties have already been incurred. Unless this is a new set of data, I think the loss of eight scholarships was reflected in the previous two recruiting classes. Christopher spoke about it during his press conference announcing the firing of Brandon.

He definitely talked about it when Brandon left. If not incurred, they were known. It has nothing to do with the DII "talk" most of which is here.

I believe you are correct...and there is no talk of going to Div II. or III or IV or whatever.

Ahem, didn't the replies state that these penalties have already happened?

Happened, going to happen, no matter which one, it's still a major blow! I had no idea we were talking that many when this topic was first mentioned. Damn.....

Nothing nearly as bad as Fairleigh Dickinson Metropolitan University.

Side note from the Ice Arena Working Group, was that the University has stated to the groups working on the hockey and ice arena issues, BGSU will remain a 1A school, remain in the MAC, and that is it.
They seem to want to make sure no talk of dropping down is allowed to fester into reality.

I wonder if we are allowed to spread those eight out over a couple of years?

OK, here's what Christopher said when he let Brandon go, as reported in Ryan Autullo's Blog...
-Christopher said his reason for firing Brandon was based on “an accumulation of things.” He cited a disappointing 6-6 season, players getting into legal trouble, and nine scholarships being revoked due to poor APR scores. The latest APR won’t be released until the spring, but the university is told of the scores well in advance. The nine lost scholarships were broken into this year (seven) and next year (two). I believe the distribution is at the discretion of each program.
Based on that, we have already taken most of the penalty because we knew it was coming, even though (as the statement says) this results were due this spring.

By this year, do you mean 2008/2009, or this year as in 2009/2010?
