Thought this was an interesting discussion, with people comparing how they think Clawson will do here with how Lane Kiffin will do at Tennessee.
Some interesting reading. Though I did have to say something to one guy who felt it was pertinent to poke fun at BG...

Wow. They sure mention UT a lot. And even mention that Clawson treats the game like University of Toledo physics profs, or at least Rocket science.
Didn't Northern or somebody beat them in the last couple years?

Oh, I was wrong. That awesome force out of the SEC spanked NIU badly at home taking them behind the woodshed for a huge 13-9 win.

Yeah. Wyoming did beat them last year though. Which is one of the reasons that they are convinced Clawson was a bad coach. If you ask me, there were a lot more than Clawson to blame for that one, as well as the whole rest of the season. But some of those Vol fans would rather scapegoat the new guy rather than recognize the problems that had been brewing in the background for several years which came to a head last season.

I have nothing against Tenn. It is the totally best place to go for liver transplants!

Clawson wasn't TN's only problem it's true, but the 'Clawfense' was a complete disaster in the SEC! He took a strong offensive line that only gave up 4 sacks in '07 and made them into one of the worst in Div. 1 in less than 12 months. I hope you guys have have better luck or it's gonna be a LONG season! He never realized that coaching at TN isn't the same as Richmond and Florida is no JMU. Good luck - you may need it!

So the "Clawson is a bad bad man because UT didn't win a ton of games last year" folks follow me here.

(Just giving you s**t, don't get hyper-sensitive on me.)
Seriously though, the BG forum is always open as long as you're not a douche. But be warned, sometimes that term is thrown around in a friendly way around here. Several other recent visitors haven't been able to handle that....
Just don't be an actual douche and you're fine.
Really though, I didn't want to say this on the VolNation board because I don't think some of those folks could have handled me saying anything slightly detracting about
that UT (fyi to "GeneralNeyland" and any other Vol fans that may pop up here, on this board, when people say UT, 99% of the time, it means the University of Toledo, BG's biggest rival), but I can't help but think that with Tennessee being such a tradition-laden school, that when a new guy who wasn't Cutcliffe came in, and he wanted to change things around in a big way, I have to imagine that he was met with a "That's not how we do things here on Rocky Top, son" from more than a few people. Tack that on to trying to implement a new system with a brand new QB, in a super competitive conference, on top of all the problems that had been brewing in the background... I think he was doomed almost from the start. Now, had he had a chance to work a little longer and let people warm up to him, as well as get some players in there who weren't so steeped in the old ways that they could have adapted easier to a different system... he may have had some success at Tennessee. As it is, in a way, I'm glad it didn't pan out that way. Because now both of my favorite schools look poised to start some exciting new eras.[/i]

I got to tell you. It's pretty impressive they had 13 pages on that thread.
I was also encouraged by the number of Vol fans who think Clawson is smart and can recruit. Sounds like he needs to recruit smart players which he may not have had taking over at UT. How do our guys compare in the 'brains' category...I have no idea, but for all of our sakes they better be pretty damn smart.

Tennessee fans are pretty much collective morons. They think because they're in the SEC that it gives them a right to be so cocky. I just can't wait for Urbie to kick Kiffin's teeth in this year at Florida. I hope he makes Spurrier look like Mother Teresa.

Joel, almost half the pages were a pissing match between two people that were off topic. It is obvious that Tenn fans have no idea what BG has done against BCS teams.

Exactly. As with a lot of other BCS programs, if you're not a fellow BCS program, or at least a program which theirs plays on a semi-regular basis and/or within the last few years... Tennessee fans don't know sh*t about you. Dont' get me wrong, since I've been dating my now-fiancee (who is a Tennessee student, but has also been to several BG sporting events and actually owns more Falcon gear than Vol gear), I have come to very much like the Vols and root for them. But a fair number of their fans are the type who buy into what is essentially an NCAA class system that has been in place for a very long time now.
