CFN's latest guess

Music City Bowl, huh? Haven't heard that one floated out there before. Nashville on New Year's Eve might be doable. I like it!!!

I still wonder, though, if the barrage of MAC teams making bowl appearances (as CFN is suggesting) is a good thing for BG (or NIU). Making a bowl is great, and nothing can tarnish that, but I think there's a huge drop-off between earning an at-large bid and getting in because the bowls were scrambling for eligible teams. Hopefully if that's the case, our guys will put all talk of "not deserving to be there" to rest on the field!

There's no doubt that it will be treated with something like "Akron was invited to the XXX bowl, because, frankly, the people at the XXX bowl didn't have any choice." There's nothing we can do about that. How about everybody wins, and takes advantage.

I haven't seen anything about the Music City Bowl to this point, but it would certainly be one of only a few that I could swing financially. CFN is calling for some interesting matchups for the MAC -- Miami/Minnesota, NIU/Virginia, and BG/Alabama -- all pretty strong matchups for our teams that are winnable. I'm not going to put too much faith in these picks as they seem to dramatically change every 5 minutes, but it is nice to think about Nashville on 12/31.

For now I think it is a bad thing that everyone will say "Akron was invited because they couldn't invite 3-8 Penn State", but if we can fair well overall, I think all of these invites will be good for us and the MAC.

Four or five bowl bids would be an excellent opportunity for the conference to atone for its abysmal OOC showing earlier this year against 1A competition. It'd be a great boost during the height of recruiting season.

It's a clever idea.

But I have no more faith in that being a possibility than I would if CaliSooner had posted it.

CFN.com stinks.

As much as we think CFN stinks, they predicted our wins/losses prior to the season starting and were exactly right. I have been somewhat amazed at how close they have been the past few years.

Hmm... I thought I posted it a little more gracefully than CaliSooner would have...

I don't take much stock in anything they have either, but to see a different game pop onto SOMEONE'S radar, with a better possibility to attend, was pretty cool.

Mine was a statement about CFN. Not you.

And I didn't think CFN's 8-3 prediction was that prescient. Several of us here were thinking the exact same thing, game for game.

WHEW!!! I was beginning to wonder if I had to start looking out for Grant's banning ax!!!

And you're right, 8-3 wasn't a hard "safe" prediction to make, the only question marks would have been what would Marshall do at the Doyt and if we could have won at NIU or UT, but as long as Omar didn't self-destruct from the start, 8-3 was an easy starting point. (And I think Omar did okay, too. :D )

I have to be in Nashville Jan 2nd anyways, so I'm sure I could swing getting there Friday instead of Sunday. This would be awesome!

Speculations aside, the announcers for the men's basketball game yesterday said that Krebs was pretty sure a bowl announcement would be made this week.

I was kind of suprised that none of you brains out there picked up on it, but maybe you were at the game or something.

So, we should be going and we should find out where this week.

You people are going to give yourselves aneurisms if you keep this up!

The MAC and BG have been screwed so many times that there is little faith. Sorry. No matter where it is I am going. Even Hawaii.
