Greastest Victory For BGSU Football
What do you think is the greatest victory for BG in falcon football history? Mine is when we were national champs in '59.

I have to go with victories that I remember, so I have to go with the win over the Golden Gophers at Minnesota in overtime on the Big Ten Network. Wasn't that the first game televised on that station, or something like that?

The first game on Big Ten Network was Appalachian State over Michigan.footballguy51 wrote:I have to go with victories that I remember, so I have to go with the win over the Golden Gophers at Minnesota in overtime on the Big Ten Network. While there is no way I would say at Minnesota in 2007 was one of the greatest victories in BG history, I will say it was the most exciting BG game I have been to.

Im going to go with the NIU game that Gameday was at. For one week we were center stage of college football. For 20 hours I was drunk and it was one of the best days of my college life.

Probably the best game that I've been at would have to be the 2004 GMAC Bowl Game against Memphis.

I think I would have to go with the first victory over Purdue, back in the early 70's.
Now only was it an exciting game, but hey were many peoples pick to win the Big 10 that year, with 5-6 future NFL stars on that team, including Gary Danielson, Darell Stingley, Otis Armstrong, Dave Butz and more.

Definitely the Purdon't game in 2003, at least in my experience. I never saw it, but J4H I'm sure remembers watching the game on Gamtracker. Absolutely the most dumbfounding experience of my life.
A close second is the 2003 NIU game, and a very close third is the win over Northwestern in the Motor City Bowl. But please bear in mind that I wasn't around for just about 73 years of Falcon football, so I'm sure I missed a few games.
Oh, honorable mention goes to the 1992 Las Vegas Bowl (I think it was '92, if not '93), but that was a great game. I'm always grateful when ESPN Classic plays it during bowl season.

Nope! 2002, BG 51 Missouri 28. The Doyt rocked that night, and it really marked our emergence onto the national stage. We whipped Brad Smith and Co in the rain, and told everyone that the Falcons were to be dealt with. Second place was the 1985 victory @ Kentucky.

I'm a little surprised that ya'll superfans haven't mentioned the Pitt game last year. That was definately the most exciting football contest I've ever experienced in person. That(those) home loss(es) that followed does still kind of taint the memories a little.

I have to go with the Miami Miracle in 1985. Kentucky got shocked, but Miami kept are undefeated season. I think all of our BCS victories in the last seven years all tie for second. Pitt last year was ranked so that may be at the top of that list.
Re: Greastest Victory For BGSU Football
2003 Purdue was the greatest game I've ever been to in my life. SO glad that I ended up making that trip.
2001 UT was one of the best Doyt experiences of my life. The student section was ROCKING that day. Some guys had dropped a 5 gallon bucket of Hairy Buffalo over the fence, then retrieved it, and we were passing that around the student section the entire game. Then the goalposts come down afterward! And Urban was encouraging it. I love it!
2003 NIU also stands out for the entire gameday experience. That was the only time we ever started tailgating the night before. Partying all night, crashing for a couple hrs, then getting up to keep partying and hit up the gameday scene. The game was pretty awesome too, coming out punching NIU in the mouth and we never let up.
2002 Mizzou, 2001 NW, & 2008 Pitt all deserve some honorable mention.

Zulu, you are correct. Miami did not lose the rest of the year. Rick Neiman saved our MAC Championship and undefeated season.
