I think the Big East slides in next. Another year, Cincinnati played UT.

Syracuse if they don't make the BCS?

Troy vs. Turdledo? Would not be good. Motor City has to be sweaten bullets now. If they want a decent attendence they will have to take Toledo or BG.

Valid point 52. Virtutally assures the Rockets (or maybe us, though I doubt it) to be at Ford Field.

There is talk that the Continental Tire Bowl actually wants Connecticut. Maybe Syracuse would come to Detroit (if the BCS doesn't snag 'em first... and think of that!).

And, yes, that means Toledo would probably square off with 'em. That would be a good matchup for the MAC.

I'm not holding my breath... but don't forget Notre Dame counts as a Big East team for bowl purposes. I'll bet George Perles has placed a few phone calls testing the waters.

If Perles can pull a rabbit out of his hat with Notre Dame, I bet Miami would play in Detroit. (I doubt the Irish would consent to play anyone else in the MAC).

Rabbit out of his hat. How about Ford Field out of his AZZ? That would never happen. ND play a MAC school? I will believe it when I see it.

Yeah, Schad, never gonna happen. Notre Dame is ALMOST as arrogant and full of themselves as Ohio State is, and they would never "stoop" to playing a MAC team (because we would probably beat the golden snot out of them). A loss to a MAC team would probably once and for all signal the death knell for the ND's great football tradition. Its been dying for a while...

Like I said, it's a reach...

But remember that Notre Dame once did schedule Miami for a home opener. The game was eventually scotched -- my understanding is that NBC objected.

But the fact that Miami ever appeared on a Notre Dame schedule is suggestive.

I don't think they'd agree to play us or Northern Illinois (and forget about Toledo). But Miami has a wee bit of snob appeal.

A WEE bit? Well, if that isn't the understatement of the year I don't know what is!!!!!!!

If BG ends up playing Syracuse in a bowl game.....

I would probably explode with happiness. It would be tough to watch though, although I'd probably be rooting for BG underneath it all. Syracuse has been my "other" team all my life though.....

I don't think the Syracuse fans would know what to do when they finally realized that they weren't the only team with orange as their color!

(goes back before the season when we were mocking a press release from Syracuse after they dropped the "men" from orange.)

Apparently, Notre Dame has accepted an invitation to play in the Insight.com Bowl.
