This is great. Having a receive of his caliber as a part of this team will be very beneficial. I hope he's been doing whatever he can on his own so he isn't too far behind the rest of the team. I hope he "found a playbook" he could read while getting his paperwork squared away and whatnot.

I hope he found a school book so he can stay eligible beyond this year.

All signs point toward Clawson being very serious about academics. It's not just him saying it - players are talking about his academic commitment. I can't imagine players being ineligble like before, and if they are, I can't imagine them staying that way for long.

Hopefully after 4 years playing I will be proven wrong, but I have a feeling that its a one and done deal and not in a good way.

Looks like Joplin still has to wait to see if he can/or is going to play this season:

JOPLIN AWAITS RULING: Shaun Joplin's playing status as a freshman is still uncertain as BG awaits a final ruling by the NCAA Clearing House, which determines the eligibility of student athletes in college athletics.

The Southview graduate spent part of the summer completing some high school course work before he was cleared to join the Falcons in practice last week after receiving admission into the university. His high school transcripts and test scores must be reviewed by the NCAA before a final decision will be made on his eligibility status for this season.

A ruling could come as early as this week by the NCAA. Among the possible rulings include Joplin being ruled eligible to play as a freshman, eligible for practice only this season, and not being eligible to participate as a freshman.

Blade says he's going to redshirt, which will be good for him if he really does need to get some grades in order.
