It's time for BG to get back its home field advantage!!!

From 2001-04, BG was 21-2 over a four-year period going 4-1 in 2001, 6-0 in 2002, 6-1 in 2003 and 5-0 in 2004!!! However, over the last four seasons (2005-08), BG has limped to a record of 9-10 going 2-3 in 2005, 2-2 in 2006 and 4-1 in 2007 before last year's forgetable 1-4 season in 2008. Enough is enough already, we have got to get this turned around and get back to our winning ways at home!

I heard that...gonna be tough this year with Troy, Boise State and CMU on the sked. I believe we'll beat Ohio, Akron and UT at home this year. Troy and CMU can go either way and we'll have to play nearly perfect to beat Boise State.
Only 3 weeks away....BEAT TROY.

I'll tell you what happened... Sebo Center, Field turf, and an overall bad attitude!

I also think that BG doesn't make the game fan accessible. During our peak years games were played mostly on Saturdays and when OSU was finished playing. Lately to gave into ESPN we have games during the week that nobody can attend. I just hope that Clawson can do what Urbie did and bring excitement back to this team. Maybe the fans will come out for a week night game.
On a side note do they now offer the shuttle bus to help students who live in the dorms get to the game? I can't tell you how many students don't go, because they have to walk. I bet if they had one they could easily get another 200-400 at a game.

...so if I'm reading this right, a class-of-the-conference training center and turf that will prevent another nearly unwatchable (and unplayable) mud bowl like we had against Miami are responsible for
lower attendance and less home wins?
I'm not sure we're on the same planet here.

I was pretty confused by those too. I fail to see how facility improvements could have led to less excitement around the program.

The turf COULD actually hurt in a bizarre sort of way- nobody else played much on it and BG could gear their game for muddy conditions more easily than other teams. I think cakruke's sentiment (or at least parts one and two) are loony as can be but I'm trying to think outside the box.

The old turf field was in such awful shape that it had inconsistencies everywhere. There was an unintentional home field advantage in that our players knew which areas of the field sucked worse than others. A change was badly needed. The Sebo Center doesn't really block wind from making the Doyt a wind tunnel - instead, it channels the wind and makes for some strange corners and such. But the new facility and the new turf were much needed and much appreciated upgrades.

The excitement is there, the Minn. game was one of the most exciting i've been to. All I'm saying is after the sebo and turf we seem to lose. Why with such great facilities in place have we had the worst home stands in the last 10 years? 2007 brings in all this state of the art stuff, and we lose. This is football, what's wrong with some mud, the grass was fine. We can make excuses till we are blue in the face, bottom line is facilities don't win games players do. I just see us trying to fit a mold that we don't fit. I think we have brought in players that don't fit what we are trying to do. We aren't a big time program and we don't need to be.

but we went 4-1 in 07, better then the two years before when we didn't have those things
as for 08, since no one else has done it in this thread I'll do it it, I blame GB (just don't tell cowboyjoe)

Not many people here would disagree with that statement

I am always happy. I just will be happier if we can start off winning 3 out of 4 non-conference games.
