Book looks interesting, but not what you want to see about our coach

Some R Rated language, hopefully the board has censors

"Coach Clawson, get our mother fu**ing playmakers the ball," he begins, the whites of eyes large as he slaps himself in the chest with his hands. "I'm fu**in' sick of this s**t. We got too many fu**in' good players at wide receiver and too many good running backs to do this s**t! We all been talking about it. If they playing 10 yards off G. Jones why we running one yard passes? Let's get our playmakers the ball, coach, and fu**ing score!

Did anyone read the whole article? This guy ranting was out of control, IMO. There is a way to make your views known without resorting to what that player said.

Didn't Tenn have to break in a new QB last year as well? Everyone knew Fulmer was on his way out and Coach Clawson had to implement his offense with a new QB and lame duck HC?

Just wondering...

LESS THAN 2 WEEKS!!!! COME OUT SWINGING AND BEAT TROY!!!

That is a correct assessment. UT lost Ainge who was a 4 year starter. Fulmer was getting chased with pitchforks & torches for the past few years. Clawson was thrust into a very much tough to win situation. He didn't come out faring too well, but the situation wasn't exactly golden.

On top of that it is really of little consequence to his ability to lead BG because he's NOT the offensive coordinator here...he's the head coach. A position he has twice shown he can excel at on the D1AA level. I believe those skills will translate quite well to his ability to be a 1A head coach.

Last time I checked, wasn't a little fire a good thing to have from a coach? Bobby Knight won a national championship and he threw chairs on the court. And if you think the players don't use that kind of language, you are living in a dream world. I'm sure they say things much worse than the 4-letter bombs that were dropped in this little excerpt. I want a coach that fires up his players. If this tactic works, great. If not, he'll adjust. Let's Beat Troy!!!

Woops...totally missed the point on this article...thought these were things that Clawson said...read the article, made a mistake. My bad.

The quote actually was a player complaining to Coach Clawson.

Tennessee wasn't ready to turn the page on the program yet, but they had been needing to for awhile. In my opinion, the only reason Fulmer was there last year was that Cutcliffe came back to OC for him and the players they had (especially Ainge) were able to just squeak out enough wins to get the team into the SEC Championship Game. That's what saved Fulmer. Then last year, Cutcliffe left to coach at Duke, and Clawson got the OC job. He walked into a VERY ugly situation with issues that had been brewing for a long time. I'm not going to say he did everything perfect, but he was trying to implement a very complex system, break in a new QB (who did awful and was replaced by another new QB a few weeks in, and then back to the first one later in the season), all at a program that was resistant to change, in the SEC, arguably one of the toughest conferences in NCAA football right now. Word has it half the time, Fulmer overrode Clawson's decisions and as for the rest of the time, you had players who didn't gel with the new, complex system he was trying to implement. And as Clawson learned, there is little margin for error in the SEC.

But all in all, it seems to me that Clawson learned a lot from last year about what to do and what not to do as a coach. One thing that really points that out to me is that he has stated he's not going to completely try to dump the old system and implement his own. Instead, he's going to transition his in by mixing the two together. I'm confident Coach Clawson will do great things here at BG, and I just hope it doesn't go by too fast.

I was at the barber today and the conversation was very similar in terms of making excuses and covering up for a failed regime last year. But that was at the middle school level.

Hey, what can I say? My fiancee goes to Tennessee and has turned me into a Vols fan as well as a Falcon fan. (I did the same to her in reverse though, so it evens out.) Last year was ugly at Tennessee, but I really don't think the blame for that lies primarily on Clawson's shoulders. Not saying he made it any better, but I also don't think he made it any worse than it would have been with somebody else.

Playing in the tough SEC is one thing...scoring 7 points at home against Wyoming is another. I hope Clawson has learned as he has reviewed our offense over the last couple of years is to stay out of the way and let all of our returning starters on offense make the plays in the old offense...like the offense that rolled up over 500 yards of offense and over 40 points against Wyoming. Get out of the way of our offense and turn to the defense for your coaching, coach.

Could be worse. We could have Brandon back for another disappointing season with the convict brigade!

Wow...Father Brown and CowboyJoe, you won't even give Coach Clawson a chance? What gives? The guy hasn't even coached his first game and you're writing him off already.

Way to be supportive.
