Top 100 teams in the country include 5 from Ohio, which means big recruiting this next year. The Ohio rankings:
4 Elder
13 Colerain
35 Glenville Academic Campus
48 Moeller
61 St. Ignatius
Considering Clawson wants to recruit the "State of Bowling Green", seeing a lot of talent in Ohio for the upcoming year means big things for his first recruiting class at BG that he manages from beginning to end.
Good year for HS football in Ohio

Elder and Colerain meet week 2 at Elder and the game is going to be shown on either ESPN or ESPN2, can't remember which. Should be a fantastic game

It isn't unusual for Ohio to have 5 or more teams in Top 100 polls. There are 6 in the Prepnation top 100. Also, there were 5 teams in the final Rivals poll last year.

What about 4 in the top 50? I'm no high school football expert, but that sounds pretty impressive ...BGSUfalcons wrote:It isn't unusual for Ohio to have 5 or more teams in Top 100 polls. There are 6 in the Prepnation top 100. Also, there were 5 teams in the final Rivals poll last year.

Re: Good year for HS football in Ohio
Is it just me or does anybody else find it disturbing how many HS play out of state games now? I don't mind if it is a short drive across state lines like it would be for some Cincinnati schools, but when a FL school travels all the way to OH is ridiculous. I wonder how schools are able to afford these trips, especially the public schools. Sorry looking at that list and some of the match-ups I just wonder if too much is put into sports.

I love the words Glenville and Academic in the same sentence!

Rollo, I thought the same thing. It's a running joke with my dad and myself.Rollo83 wrote:I love the words Glenville and Academic in the same sentence!
Glenville does some...interesting things...The number of players who have previously been enrolled in eastside suburb schools and end up "living" in Cleveland and playing at Glenville is interesting.
They've had players come in for their Junior/Senior season from Mayfield, Hunting Valley, Fairport, Mentor, Willoughby...and all of a sudden they now have residency in Cleveland?
They also just had a player transfer in from GA. Happens to be a 6'6 320 linemen that Tressle saw at his OSU camp and steered him to Ginn and Glenville.
Anyhow, on topic, good to see Ohio get some props. Ohio may play some of the best high school football, and this is evident of such.

Re: Good year for HS football in Ohio
Not really sure where that came from as my original post had nothing to do with if we could land any of these players, was just excited to see so many highly rated Cincy teams, and pointed out a big early game between themFather Brown wrote:your assuming we can land any of these kidsBGFalconfromCincy wrote:Love seeing three Cincy teams in the top 50MarkL wrote:Check it out: http://highschool.rivals.com/viewrankhs.asp?ra_key=646

I have no idea if we can land any of these kids, as I really don't know anything about the players on the teams and what schools are looking at them, my following fo Cincy area high school football has slipped some due do to the fact I have been up here for school. I'm sure there is a chance we could land a few of the players on these teams, its not like they'll send their entire teams to BCS schools
