Finally a practical use for bigten network.

I've got the Toledo at Purdue game on. Toledo's defense is not looking impressive. They are not wrapping people up, and they never seem to have the right defense chosen. It's looking familiar to be honest.

Their offense is looking awefully familiar as well. They are doing a pretty good job of running the spread. Therefore, it begs the question: is Toledo just that good at running the spread, is Purdue just that bad at stopping it, or did Toledo just catch them with their pants down?

I'm having a hard time believing that Purdue didn't predict Toledo would run the spread.

Time will tell, but from what I saw it looks like Toledo needs to get some things figured out if they want to roll with the MAC. Yes, I know, the MAC is stuggling right now, but the spread is "old hat" in the MAC. Part of why our offense has struggled the last few years is because so many teams have structured their defenses specifically to stop the spread. This is also part of why we are the only team in the MAC with a winning OOC record since 2002 and yet don't have a single conference championship during that same time period.

I'm glad to see Clawson run some more traditional plays last Thursday. I really think that will allow our offense to be effective against any team, and not just the teams who aren't prepared to defend the spread.

Go Falcons!
