Re: Pronty Out
That's a pretty big loss, and it means that Wright, Hutson and Hodges will have to step things up for a good chunk of the season.

Re: Pronty Out
No doubt. It's been quite a while since we had three or four good options on the field at one time (Sharon, Sanders, Partridge, Hawkins, etc.) and Freddie is going to need some help out there.jpfalcon09 wrote:That's a pretty big loss, and it means that Wright, Hutson and Hodges will have to step things up for a good chunk of the season.
Re: Pronty Out
DAMN...i figured him to be the #2 guy out there. other receivers are really going to have to step it up big time over these next several weeks.

This is a pretty big loss.. hopefully he has a full and speedy recovery.
On the other hand, this will give our younger guys a chance to step up and show what they've got. I thought Hodges looked good in the Troy game and Hutson has the talent but now they need to step up. If Mizzou has watched any game film at all they will be focusing on Freddie which makes it more imperative that Hodges/Hutson/Wright step up.
Anyone know who would be the 5th WR now? Jorden and Joplin are redshirted right? Brighton is out (injuries are killing our WR depth). Who am I not thinking of? Not that we really use 5 WR much anymore but still.

They can use Geter as a WR and don't forget about Scheidler. Depth wise things are okay.JH5 wrote:This is a pretty big loss.. hopefully he has a full and speedy recovery.

Indeed. Next week could be a different story but I think for Mizzou we'll be alright.1987alum wrote:Time will tell.jpfalcon09 wrote:Depth wise things are okay.

Re: Pronty Out
We can split out Geter in those instances when we go 5 wide, because he's pretty decent at catching. Anytime we would need him at RB, we wouldn't be running 5 wide, so it wouldn't matter. Then, you could rotate Geter and Shiedler so they can both get breathers. That, and they both offer completely different aspects to the game that having a sure-handed big man would be more beneficial in some instances than a smaller speedy guy.
ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: Pronty Out
SOB! Damn, this is a big loss....I hope we can get him back sooner than later in the MAC portion of the schedule. Damn!
GO BG!!!
Re: Pronty Out
We have that whole stable of athletes at RB who we could split out to fill a WR spot if needed.... athleticism is something this squad seems to have in spades

Re: Pronty Out
Fudge. This guy was making big strides, and was looking to be our #2 WR this season. A broken foot is a pretty big deal, so while I'm hoping he's back in 4-6 weeks, that sounds pretty ambitious to me.
Hopefully Wright can really step up an become a big time playmaker for us now, he's got the speed and strength, he's always needed some seasoning to get there, and now he'll get plenty of that. And maybe one of our depth guys will emerge from the woodwork as well.
