BG lands another recruit!

Post by Sidejudge »

According to information on Yappi.com, Middletown's Nick McKnight, a 6-1 190 wide receiver and a cousin of BG's Chris Wright, committed this afternoon to BGSU. Nick also plays defense for the Middies and in addition to Wright joins fellow Middletown players, Chip Robinson and Blaec Walker, both on the two deep offensive line. McKnight will come to BG along with Middletown QB Caleb Watkins who committed to BG back in August.

Is Middletown's head coach a BG alum or something, because that's an awful lot of players that we've pulled from that one school district.

Yeah, no kidding. As for the Middletown qb Caleb Watkins, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up transferring if we keep Trent Hurly. We're getting mighty crowded at the qb position next year with Pankrantz , Shilz , Watkins and Trent Hurly all possibly competing for starting job. At very least I see us losing somebody at qb , whether its one of the backups now or one of the new signee's.

FB,
For ONCE you might be right, but can we at least wait until we see IF these two current HS kids sign before your gloom and doom message? :axe:

Perhaps someone would transfer, but why assume that it would be Watkins?

If my memory serves me, I think one of our former quarterback recruits had one heck of a receiving day last Thursday! So I wouldn't necessarily think that a surplus of quarterback recruits automatically means transfers down the road. Please feel free to correct me though.

Watkins is a tremendous HS football player. He can play a number of positions at the college level.

Rivals has us with one *** kid, but we have about 4-5 kids with a 5.4 ranking...that's a hair under ***. Then again...more often than not, kids who come here with a *** rating blow out more often than not, so maybe it's better to have a bunch of ** guys.

Well , if we do sign him I hope this is the case and we can keep him at another position and not have to lose him because of him not having a chance at Qb here. The only reason why I said Watkins might be the player to transfer is simply cuz Hurly seems to be the better prospect for what we want to run. That is just speculation though.

I don't believe I ever complained about us not signing good qb's. I might have remarked at how many qb's we seem to end up signing year and that's about it. I'm certainly not "bellyaching" either. IF we did ever lose him , I would'n' bellyache over it in the slightest. Keeping him would be a lot nicer yes, but may not be realistic given the nature of our Qb roster right now. Actually we might not even lose Watkins per se, or rather a qb might transfer. It could be Pantrantz or Shilz that could end up leaving. I'm just saying it's possibility with all the rather top notch qb's we'll have battling it out.
