Bowls, clock ticking, etc.

I'm really enjoying all the chatter about possible bowl bids - is BG going? where are they going? who will they match up with?
But the longer this drags on, the more difficult it will be for some of us - ahem, hi there! - to attend any bowl game. This is assuming BG gets in, of course.
I tracked fares to San Jose & Mobile before the Toledo game and found many viable options. But in the days after the game, many of the affordable options have already evaporated. The longer the wait drags on, the higher the prices get.
I know this is selfish, self-serving and whining about our team getting a bowl bid, but it is a fact in some people's lives ... in this case, namely mine.
The sooner this gets settled, the better!

I'm very excited about the possibilities this year...but the eternal pessimist in me is still saying the bowls would rather just not play than have MAC teams come.
Yeah, it's not likely, but still that'd be a good way for us to get screwed.
Unless we're in Detroit, I won't be making the trip. A conference in May won out my travel dollars over the Falcons this year...stupid professional development.

The waiting is killing me too. I can tell you I've been checking this board on the hour to see if any new news is available. My wrist hurts from all the clicking and surfing today.
I do hope we get a bid. I wish I was as confident as most of you on this board.

87- I too was hoping for an early announcement so as to save on travel costs. I was also hoping for a possible Charter Deal as was done in the past Cal Bowls and Vegas Bowl, but I have been told that this will likely not be offered this time around. ..

Den - How about using your outstanding computer skills and give us your rendering of what the SAC will look like if you were standing on the 50 yard line at the doyt....That would be cool....

I'm with 87. I want to figure this out so I can buy plane tickets already.
For personal reasons, my hopes have shifted to Mobile.
Incidentally, if it works out that way, be sure to check flights into New Orleans. It's a great town, and only 2:15 or so away from Mobile.

Schadenfreude:
Pending approval from my CFO (read: wife) and the GMAC bid, my plan would be to fly into The Big Easy and rent a car for the drive over to Mobile. Those cheap flights are disappearing by the minute. I'm hoping a bid comes through tomorrow so that I can make The Final Pitch for the funds.

If we get a GMAC bid, where does NIU go?

Hmm ... that's a good question. I'm assuming the loser of the MACC goes to the MCB, the winner goes to the SVB. Does that mean that NIU might be SOL?

No. Judging from the other thread, if we play in the GMAC, NIU will play in Boise, Las Vegas or Shreveport.
Speculating now: Marshall might also fit into one of those games, assuming Tulane loses Saturday. Also, if Hawaii loses, Akron may play Alabama-Birmingham in Hawaii.

'87, I too agree. Being that I live out of state and I'm already trying to get back to Ohio for Christmas, trying to also figure out a possible trip to the bowl is downright hard right now. Essentially, I am trying to figure out two trips at about the same time - one to a place I don't even know yet. The costs alone are steep and the short timing is difficult. But, it's a nice problem to have I guess. I'd love to go wherever we play, but the longer the wait goes on, the harder it is to work out. That's what is so nice for the schools that have already accepted their bowl bids, these people can already plan their trips and many probably already have done so.
