Option's Surefire Bowl Projections

Post by OptionQB »

I apologize to all of those that missed my posts in the last week. As I told Grant and Brian tonight on AIM, last week was hell for those of us in the retail business and on Thanksgiving Day, the OptionMan got engaged (her b-day). So it's been a busy week nonetheless.

I'm hearing a lot of the same things many of you are concerning bowl games. The one that doesn't seem to get much run is the Las Vegas Bowl, people close to the team keep mentioning one of the 3 area San Francisco games and the other is the Houston Bowl.

Let me try this out with explanations where necessary (LOCKS are in caps)

New Orleans: NORTH TEXAS v. SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
Champs Sports: Iowa State v. Virginia
GMAC: MEMPHIS v. NORTHERN Illinois . . .

-I realize that is halfway in caps. I can't believe I'm doing this but Norm Wamer insists he talked to people at the Glass Bowl Debacle and says that the winner of the MACCG will go to the MOTOR CITY, the loser will go to the Silicon Valley and that the GMAC has already unofficially invited Northern b/c they brought a bunch to watch Northern v. Alabama last year.

Ok back to the projections . . .

Fort Worth: CINCINNATI v. Texas Tech
Las Vegas: New Mexico v. Georgia Tech
Hawaii: Hawaii or Akron v. UAB (accepted bid)
MPC Computers: Troy v. Marshall
Motor City: Miami (OH) v. Syracuse
Independence: Alabama v. Colorado
Insight: NOTRE DAME v. ucla
Houston: UTEP (accepted bid) v. Bowling Green
Alamo: THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY v. Oklahoma State
Continental Tire: UConn v. NORTH CAROLINA
Emerald: NAVY v. Wyoming
Holiday: Texas A/M v. Arizona State
Silicon Valley: Toledo v. Fresno State, trust me I'm much happier they get this game and NOT us. Playing real road games in a bowl is never fun.

Music City: MINNESOTA v. Boston College
Sun: PURDUE v. Oregon State
Liberty: LOUISVILLE v. Boise State
Peach: Miami (FL) v. Florida
Outback: WISCONSIN v. lsu
Cotton: Texas v. Tennessee
Gator: Florida State v. West Virginia
Capitol One: IOWA v. Georgia
Rose: MICHIGAN v. CALifornia . . . All but guaranteed
Fiesta: UTAH v. Pittsburgh
Sugar: Auburn v. Va Tech . . . SEC Champ must go to Sugar Bowl if not in Championship game.
Orange: USC v. Oklahoma

Virginia is not going to the Champs. In fact they are working very hard to swing the Independence Bowl right now. In fact, Boise is going to let them out of the obligation as long as they pick up a Big East school. Look for Georgia Tech in the Champs. UVA in the Independence and Syracuse in the Boise. It is written.....

Houston works for me. Rather be in Vegas. I think beating Fresno again would be great!

Also, after reading a Fresno board today, they would rather got to Boise than play in the Silicon Valley. Also, funny stat I read. There was one point over the past 4 years that over a 2 year period Fresno State has beaten more D-I oppenents in San Jose's home stadium 4 than San Jose did in that same time period (2) .

Let me say this. (And I can't believe I'm saying it). Leave Option alone. He's got bigger things on his mind.

Funny thing about the Houston bowl. I was just at a UTEP message board and they think they are at least getting Iowa State and possibly Colorado or Okl State. Reading some of these other message boards are fun. No BG references, yet.

I like Option. I don't always or even usually agree with him, but he stakes out his positions and defends them. I respect people who can do that.

Having been married for 11.5 years....I hope he knows what he's getting into...

Congrats on the engagement, Option!

I think now we are all patiently waiting for late in the first year of your marriage when we get the post about how the eggs are too runny, she doesn't use enough fabric softener, cuts your sandwiches diagonally instead of vertically, can't go to her left off the dribble, and how she shoulda stayed at WVU...

But good luck!!!

These references to cooking and cleaning...they lead me to think that there are wives who actually do these things?

On edit--Norm Wamer is kind of a mook

Also, it looks like Fresno State will be Boise against Syracuse... which really creates a mystery as to who in the world the Silicon Valley Bowl can bring in to match against a MAC division winner.
