MAC football picks

Post by MarkL »

Not sure of the record right now ... JH5, are you still keeping track? If not I can go back and look it up and post them.

Miami (OH) vs Northwestern
East. Michigan vs Cent. Michigan
Ball St. vs Temple
Bowling Green vs Kent St.
Gardner-Webb vs Buffalo
Ohio vs Akron
W. Michigan vs Toledo

Miami (OH) vs Northwestern
Northwestern - Yeah, Miami is really bad. EMU made it close with Northwestern ... don't expect Miami to do the same.

East. Michigan vs Cent. Michigan
CMU. EMU has won two straight vs CMU, but one of those was after CMU already had the West tied up and the other was that one last year where Schmidt went 55-80 passing. Not this time ... CMU in a close one (this one's always close).

Ball St. vs Temple
Temple. The only team worse in the MAC than Ball State so far is Miami. Temple wins big.

Bowling Green vs Kent St.
BG. BG finally gets it done. Kent without Eugene Jarvis is like a car without an engine (or at least I hope). BG would win huge if there weren't so many injuries at receiver ... instead BG wins by two possessions.

Gardner-Webb vs Buffalo
Buffalo. It's very clear that Buffalo last year was a one-year-wonder aided by a whole lot of luck. Even still, they'll wipe out GW.

Ohio vs Akron
Ohio. At the beginning of the year, I would have said Akron big. One QB dicking around and a surprisingly good offensive performance by Ohio later and I've changed my mind. That being said ... I'd sure like to see if Akron's 3-3-5 can hold up against that deep passing game and the Ohio receivers. If they can, the tables could switch on this one.

W. Michigan vs Toledo
Toledo. It's going to be a shootout. Toledo's got the better offense, the home field advantage, and more experience winning shootouts.

Here are my picks for week 6...

Miami(OH) vs Northwestern- Northwestern rolls all over the redhawks

Eastern Michigan vs Central Michigan- CMU big win

Ball State vs Temple- Temple showing much more talent this season. They will beat up ball state.

Bowling Green vs Kent st.- BGSU will finally have two wins for the season after this one. However, this game could be close as I never know what to expect from the falcons this season.

Gardner Webb vs Buffalo- Buffalo should easily win this game

Ohio vs Akron- Ohio will zip the zips. No question about it.

Western Michigan vs Toledo- WMU will come in there and stun the rockets.

And away we go...

Miami vs. Northwestern - Miami is bad, so is Northwestern. Northwestern wins a close one, 3-2

EMU vs. CMU - Anything other than a beatdown by the Chips will be a shock to me, but then again, this is the MAC so I am prepared for a shock. CMU Rolls.

Ball State vs. Temple - Temple wins this one.

BGSU vs. Kent State - I really, really, really want to be right on this pick!!! BOWLING GREEN.

Gardner Webb vs. Buffalo - Buffalo gets punished for scheduling a "cupcake" this late in the season. Gardner Webb wins.

Ohio vs. Akron - OU ruins their second homecoming in as many weeks with a big win over the Zips.

WMU vs. Toledo - Broncos win in the Glass Bowl, but only by a score or three.

Miami (OH) vs Northwestern - Northwestern - Miami is horrendous. Even the lowest of the B11 will wipe the floor with the Redhawks

East. Michigan vs Cent. Michigan - Central Michigan - EMU's won the last two games, but both of those was after CMU had already clinched either the West division or a bowl bid. With the game early in the season this time, Chippewas roll.

Ball St. vs Temple - Temple - Good grief. I'm taking the Owls at home

Bowling Green vs Kent St. - Bowling Green - A few weeks back I vowed that I was not taking Kent the rest of the year, and I won't now, Falcons win this one.

Gardner-Webb vs Buffalo - Buffalo - Gardner-Webb? A lot of folks want us to play I-AA teams, but it's like, not even a real victory if you win anyway. Bulls I guess.

Ohio vs Akron - Ohio - The Bobcats are for real. Wouldn't surprise me if they win 7 games in the MAC this season given who they have to play.

W. Michigan vs Toledo - Toledo - The Broncos have been a huge dissapointment, and they'll fall another peg in the Glass Bowl, Rockets to win this one.

Miami (OH) vs Northwestern - Northwestern is awful, but Miami is worse....

East. Michigan vs Cent. Michigan-Central may hit 50 by halftime in this blowout win!

Ball St. vs Temple- Temple will crush Ball St.

Bowling Green vs Kent St.- BG had better win this one or we'll be neck and neck with Ball St. and Miami for futility this season

Gardner-Webb vs Buffalo- Buffalo easily

Ohio vs Akron- Ohio by two scores

W. Michigan vs Toledo- Toledo is going to rock the Broncos

Dang....want to pick some lottery numbers for me?
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
