BG & Ball State are a combined 1-7 in one-score games

Post by BGSU33 »

Looking at Ball State, the Cardinals are 0-6 and obviously aren't the same team they were last year, However, of their six losses, all but one of those losses came by 10 points or less, including three by 7 points each (just like BG) and another by just 5 (last week's loss). That said, BG and Ball State are a combined 1-7 in games decided by one score or less (BG is 1-3, Ball State is 0-4). As if the lst two weeks weren't stressful enough, this seems like the prefect recipe for yet another nailbiter...

If our defense performs well, we should have no problem mopping the floor with the Cardinals. Our offense is clicking on all cylinders, finally, and now the D has to follow suit. GO FALCONS!!! CRUSH THE CARDINALS!

That young QB just gets better each week and Lewis is bound to gain a yard sometime this season. This could be a shootout.

I believe BG will win as well. I thought the Cardinals would be MAC champs this year but man have they fell short. I will be at this game so hopefully I can see a BG victory in my time in muncie. Anyone else going to the game this weekend?

I'll be there, probably with the Indy alumni contingent. Not sure how many will go from this end, but I imagine it will be more than a few, less than a lot.

Can't wait!

BTW this is my first time going to munice for a football game. Has anyone been there before? Are there fans nice or hostile? I like a mix of them myself. In 2003 I went to Mount Pleasant, which was the chips homecoming game. My father used a port a potty close to where we were tailgating and about 10 chip fans went over and started rocking the potty and chanting "YOU WISH YOU WERE A CHIPPEWA". It was a huge party there and even saw some X-rated things happening there. It was a crazy experience but by halftime half the crowd was gone. The worst experience ive had was when I made the trip to Oxford ohio in 2003 to see Miami destroy us. The fans were horrible and of course they had to make a reference to both walmart and STD's all night long. As I was walking back to the bus back to BG, I was almost robbed by a couple of Miami college students. Luckily there were a few guards close by and told them to leave, as there were 4 of them and only 1 of me.

Last time we were there was 2005 and I'll admit I was stunned to discover they had as many football fans as they did. I fully expected it to be a game at an empty stadium. Most of the fans were great. There were a few dumb students but they were definitely the minority, and the worst, most obscene things they yelled were "Bowling Green sucks!". So don't expect experiences like at the CaveMan U or MiAudi. Should be a great experience and possibly this time we'll be playing at an empty stadium.

CaveMan U?! That just about made me snort orange juice out my nose.

As for the 1-7 statistic, I think it's a bit misleading seeing as the one victory came last week against Kent State. Really, I'm not sure that we have to blow a team out to win, it's more like if it's a close game, we just need to make sure we get the ball last. If the other team has it under 2 minutes left, the whole world knows our defense ain't stoppin em.
