First off, congrats on the GMAC Bowl bid....I am completely jacked up over this game. We've got a pair of 2003 bowl champions going head to head, with a pair of high powered offenses leading the way. I remember last year, we had a great time getting to know the North Texas fans and chatting with them about the New Orleans Bowl. I'm looking forward to talking with all of you, and getting to know more about your football program.

Just curious...about how many Bowling Green fans went to Detroit last season, and what do you think can be expected for the GMAC?

Come over to memphistigers.org ANYTIME and chat with us...

See y'all in Mobile, Alabama!!!!

I think the BG attendance at the MCB last year was good. This ought to be an exciting game..... both teams can score very well. The game that you all had against UL was one of my favorite games all year. It reminded me of the offense you see when you play backyard football.

As a side note, I love going to Memphis. I have an annual 4 day conference in Memphis each year and have a great time each year. For good music and great food, downtown Memphis is the place to go.

HornLakeTiger:

We had a huge turnout for the MCB last year, but that's largely because Detroit is just a stone's throw away from the school and within an hour or two of more than half of our alumni. I don't expect us to generate those kid of numbers, but we'll bring as much orange and brown as we can!

Incidentally, that's hosted by the same guy who hosts the MAC board at ncaabbs.com.

If you have an account at ncaabbs.com, it ought to work fine on the Memphis board.

I don't know that anyone here knows how many were sold directly from the BGSU ticket office, but I would guess we had 20,000 Falcon fans there.

(I will be corrected and told I am being too conservative. But that's my take).

As far as Mobile: I would hope we can do about what Miami did. I seem to remember they sold about 6,000 tickets last year directly out of their ticket offices, compared with 950 or so by Louisville.

SF,

20,000 BG fans last year sounds about right to me.

I'm looking forward to a great game on the 22nd...still trying to swing getting away from work, but we'll see.

Anyway, you folks in Memphis could play us all the time if you'd ditch CUSA and step up in class to the MAC....

You're right, I should have omitted any reference to CUSA and simply stressed the more valid and obvious point; that we're glad to be facing an opponent as talented and entertaining as Memphis

depends on which half you watched.

If you caught the first half, then you're probably shaking in your boots. If you only caught the second half, you're probably still scratching your heads wondering how we got a bowl bid.

The quality of football in each of the 2 leagues is virtually indistinguishable. What gives C-USA the edge is TV contract money and average attendance. You guys are swallowed whole by the Big 10 & Big East, while C-USA also has to put up with the likes of the ACC, SEC, and Big 12.

Memphis looks forward to facing the Falcons in Mobile. It should be very entertaining football to say the least.
