New Verbal
Rivals is showing a new verbal for BG.... Cody Silk, 6'4", 275 OL from Michigan... Seems like we're hitting Mich. harder than "usual" this year. Hopefully, this is a good year for Mich. FB.

Re: New Verbal
61, Silk looks exceptionally athletic on the hoof. This kid is well built and can add weight. But the very first thing you notice when you see him is that he appears very athletic. Good balance. Good feet.
This gives us two athletes in this mold as lineman- no question that Clay Rolf is a tremendous athlete out of Eastwood. Also we have the big bruiser Byler committed at OL out of the west side.
To me, this is a good trio.
Go Falcons!

Re: New Verbal
Yeah Clay Rolf is a beast. Im a Eastwood alumni and still go to Eagle football games as I still have family who plays. I have a cousin who plays for the Eagles right now who is only 5'4" (I believe) and Clay, who stands at 6'6" just towers over him. He is the tallest player on the team and just a great athlete. Will be the second Eagle to play for the falcons in the last 4 years as Craig Rutheford, the long snapper went to Eastwood where his father coaches.
If you remember a few years ago, there was a WR by the name of Matt Emans (2004-2007). He went to BGHS.. His grandfather has been my life long barber and Matts father played for the Falcons back in the 70's, i believe, and went on to play in the NFL for the Packers.

Re: New Verbal
I believe you are getting the Emans mixed up. You are thinking of Mark Emans, who is the football coach at Wauseon, and Matt's dad is Brad, who lives in the BG school district.

Re: New Verbal
Sounds like some more great work by those in charge of recruiting. I love what Coach Clawson is doing and I hope that he can start a great tradition of winning (again) here at BGSU!!! BEAT MIAMI!!!

Yea Factman I tend to get things mixed up some times. Either way they are related lol.

Re: New Verbal
Who the hell are you guys looking at when you talk about this Rolf kid as a tremendous athlete? Watched him play last night against OG. Oh my God! If that shlub is a tremendous athlete than than I'm ready for the NFL. He couldn't block, could't play D, didn't run or move well. OG pretty much buried him in all phases of the game along with his team. As an aside, I heard OG coach Ken Schriner--who started on the offense line for the falcons a while back and knows D1 talent because he was one on good teams--made fun of this kid and his recruitment all week in films...at one point saying "If this is the caliber of kid my alma mater is recruiting than they're in big trouble." He is tall...If being tall makes one a "Beast", well, he is tall, but that's about all you can say for him. As far as I could tell he's a waste of a scholorship.

Re: New Verbal
shineman, don't rip a 17 year old. Get serious.
I know Coach Schriner. And I don't think he is a guy who spends a lot of time making fun of opponents. Eastwood is a decent to good HS team: OG is a much better HS team. OG kicked their butts. I was not surprised.
Here's the most important thought on this player. Maybe you should call the other SEVEN D1 college teams that offered Rolf and tell them that you know more than these eight coaching staffs. I am sure they would want you to review all the other kids they have evaluated too.
Rolf is a fine athlete. Watch him on the basketball court or especially the baseball field. Interesting skill set for a bigger guy. But I am sure you will watch one game and tell us the opposite.
Silk Road Grader- excellent.

Re: New Verbal
I have seen Clay Rolf play basketball, play baseball and play football, and he is a tremendous athlete! Give this coaching staff a year or so with him as well as some weight training and concentrating on football and we'll all be very happy he's a falcon!
Re: New Verbal
I have it on good authority that Rolf received a last minute offer from Notre Dame. Not the one in Euclid, THE Notre Dame in South Bend. Kelly recruited him when he was at Cincinnati and then made a last minute offer to come to ND. That should tell you enough about Rolf's athleticism.
