NO TV for Miami game!

It says in the notes for the Miami game that there will be NO TV!

This now begs for an answer to the question; "Why the hell is this game being played on Thursday night?"

I'm sure ESPN 's contract says we have to give them 2-3 choices and they are only obligated to show one game. How can we say this nicely......that is BS!
The league needs to give them one choice each week for a mid week game and no school should be forced into the midweek game unless it is GUARANTEED it will be on TV! Thoughts?

I'd call both AD's together and move the game to Saturday...no tv, why play Thursday?

I'd like them to keep it on my day off, thanks. :-D

But I wonder if the no TV crap will allow them to push kickoff back to 7pm?

Oh yeah, and the MAC office sucks.

As a student, I really did not mind all these weekday games. In fact, they were kind of fun - good break in the week or a great way to start a weekend. Playing against Akron in 2007 on a Friday night was great. Great good ol' fashioned BG beatdown, good timing, and it made for a great start to the weekend. However, as an alum now, I hate these non-weekend games. They really don't make sense. It's a dis to all the fans that don't live within a couple hours of the stadium. The stadium will not be full or even close. Yes, there often is TV exposure involved, but who wants to watch a game on TV that is played in front of an empty crowd? Nothing adds up. I think the MAC needs to severely rethink scheduling and what sacrifices are worth it to land a TV game.

Also, I know a goal was to minimize short prep weeks. If we play Saturday, we lose a prep day for Akron.

I thought about that a bit too. Also makes me wonder if Miami against Temple really was a fluke. They played that game Thursday after a game Saturday - Miami had beaten Toledo and Temple beat Navy. I've heard that after playing those triple option offenses, you really need about two weeks to fully recover, especially on defense. It was technically fair that both teams had two less days to prep, but Temple was definitely in a worse position after their game than Miami. I just have to wonder if that game had been played with more time for each team to prep if the game would not have been close at all ... just a thought.

Just one more reason why I have such little respect/interest for football.

(The list is pretty long. Don't get me started.)

It looks like once the game has started you should be able to watch it online here: http://channelsurfing.net/watch-miami-ohio.html
