On behalf of BGSU, I'm sorry NIU

Post by Bleeding Orange »

Having read that Marshall just got a bowl I began to feel even guiltier that we were complicit in once again screwing the Huskies. We SHOULD have beat Toledo and NIU SHOULD be in the MACC.

You know, when the Rockettes started to come back in the 3rd quarter last week I couldn't help but think that we were going to fall victim to some curse that has been placed on NIU. Every year it seems like they find a new way to get screwed out of a title and a bowl bid.

I think most rational people would admit that Toledo is the third-best team in the West this year, but they happened to beat #'s 1 and 2 in BG and NIU. I don't think that was coincidence anymore, and I'm starting to wonder if they have billy goats in Dekalb, too?

Anyhow, and for what it's worth, I'm sorry Huskies. If you guys don't get a bowl this year, believe me, I'll be pissed with you.

I can only pray that things will be made right and NIU will get picked by the MCB, but that is never going to happen. AHHHHHH!!!!!

NIU can still get a bowl bid. There are 56 teams for 56 spots. Only Tulane and Hawaii can get in and Tulane plays Louisville and Hawaii plays Michigan State. Akron will be on the cutting block before NIU. I can see Hawaii winning, but Tulane. I think NIU will land somewhere. It just might take some more waiting.

I know, I know. But still, I've been feeling this way since the middle of the 3rd quarter last Tuesday, and I felt the need to say it after seeing Marshall -- MARSHALL -- get a bowl bid.

I HATE MARSHALL!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish we were the third best team in the West and playing on Thursday. (You have to actually win games to be the best team.)

O&B, don't kid yourself. Talent-wise, scheme wise, we are the best and NIU is second (in my mind and a lot of other people's). I have seen a lot of discussion of the fact that Toledo got very lucky twice this year with a mediocre defense and a simplistic offense with a mediocre (at best) quarterback. Wins and losses are one thing, sometime the ball bounces a suprising way. Talent is entirely another.

Wow. Well, we were solidly beaten by both teams, not a bouncing ball. Hopefully, Coach Brandon and the team are working hard to win a championship on the field. If we were the better team (talent wise, scheme wise, whatever you want) we would have held a 20 point halftime lead. I'm not kidding!

you falcons are laughable sometimes. I think beating your #1 and #2 teams proves who is better, quit crying.

Simplistic offense makes us mediocre? How about the great Oklahoma teams of the 70's where they ran the 'bone? Easiest offense in the World to run and the easiest to figure out. However, run well, the 'bone is deadly. Toledo's offense is not as easy as you think. If it were that easy to stop, you dorks would be Defensive Coordinators.

You are the third-best team in the West. Nobody cares about what you "think". The only thing that matters is that you lost to NIU and Toledo. Toledo beat both NIU and BG. Pretty easy, even for you rednecks, to figure out.

then again, the MCB does payout 50,000 more than the GMAC, a nice little reward to give to your MAC champ along with closer driving distances so more of their fans can attend. Of course congrats to the #1 team in the MAC(sarcasm) for being blessed with the preferrential driving further for less money.

I hope Detroit has a raging snowstorm while we are in the warm Coastal breezes. 8)

Shakk and CO.....you can go on back to your cheap little "franchise board", because we really don't give a hoot what you think over here, and we are going exactly where we wanted to go, whether we were in the MACC or not.
I wish we were, but we aren't so I am happy as can be just the way things are!!! :D

If you Rockettes don't think you guys got lucky during that game, then you're the ones who are dillusional. I don't think you've taken into account the fact that Omar Jacobs threw 34 for 60 for FOUR HUNDRED-SEVENTEEN YARDS. If he had not had an off-game (and yes, that was an off game for OJ!) you guys could have put up 60 and you still wouldn't have beaten us.

Your defense in the first half looked just as miserable as ours in the second, and if Omar had his A game in the second half, you guys would have been toast. But, he is a sophomore, so I guess 417 yards passing is acceptable...

Don't kid yourselves, boys. You lucked out. We are a more talented offensive team and our defenses are about equal (with our numbers a bit better). Our NIU loss came at a very tough time for our program and you guys got lucky. So, do I believe that we are the best team in the west? If you guys were a defensive powerhouse I would say no, but you aren't, so yes, yes we are.

NIU is a better team as well, but back to the original point of this thread, I am beginning to believe that they are cursed. I'm still pullin' for you Huskies.

Try not to turn the ball over four times against Miami Thursday, guys...
