As I look at it with Temple beating Akron we now have no shot at the mac title am I correct?

I have no idea, but try to follow this.

If BGSU wins out they will be 6-2 in MAC play. (Kent is in the same boat BGSU is)
If Temple loses their next 2 games they will also be 6-2 in MAC play.
If Ohio loses against NIU and wins against Temple, they will also be 6-2 in MAC play.

I'm not sure if tie-breakers apply, but if Ohio has the advantage over us then yes we have no chance of winning the MAC (since Temple is playing Ohio)

OK, so this team stands a chance against a decent mid-league program from a high-end conference? Is not having a bowl game truly that big a loss?

NIU played L Tech last year in a bowl. WMU played Rice last year in a bowl. In fact the ONLY MAC team that played against a major conference team in a bowl last year was Buffalo against Connecticut. Just because we get a bowl bid does not mean we play an ACC or Big 12 team.

We would have gone bowling last year except Christopher saw to it that Brandon was fired before selection for the bowls were announced. He knew he couldn't fire a coach that led his team to a bowl game. No one would take a team for a bowl without a coach...nice going Christopher--your hate for Brandon got in the way of those seniors last year that deserved a bowl game.

Oh Joe Joe Joe. I'm sure everybody that either didn't love Brandon or extend his contract must surely have "hated" the man.

Wait so, if Temple, Bowling Green, Ohio, and Kent State all end up tied at 6-2, who goes to the MAC Championship?

In that situation, BG, Ohio, and Kent end up rock-paper-scissors with each other, Ohio and Kent will have beaten Temple, and BG will have not even played Temple. If they went by tiebreaker record then it would be the Flashes getting the nod, but they'd probably have to use a different tiebreaker since BG-Temple never happened.

But. But. But... Gregggg Brandon deserved a reward for his mediocrity, and what better reward than taking a team to lose money in a 3rd-rate bowl game and getting driven through the turf? I mean, if he had been given his bowl game, he could have done the right thing and given the ball to Bullock, our greatest running back in history, who would have run for 1,000 yards with 11 players on his back.

If they went by tiebreaker record then it would be the Flashes getting the nod, but they'd probably have to use a different tiebreaker since BG-Temple never happened.

Here's the tiebreaker. It appears BG loses out in a 3-way or 4-way tie.

1. Head-to-head competition

a. In the event of a multiple-team (two or more teams) tie, the team with the best head-to-head record amongst the tied teams wins the tie-breaker;

If BG, OU, and Temple all end up 6-2, then OU goes to the MACC with wins against the two other teams. BG and Temple would both be 0-1.

If BG, OU, Temple, and Kent all end up 6-2, then it's Kent. BG and Temple will be 1-1 versus the group. OU and Kent will both be 2-1, but Kent beat OU head-to-head.

I'd LOVE for this to be incorrect, giving BG a shot at it.

If they are indeed going with head-to-head matchups in the case of a 4-way tie, even though Temple and BG never played, thus eliminating those two teams from the discussion by default, then that's a crock of sh*t. If we had actually been scheduled to play Temple and WON, we'd be the ones going to the MACC on the basis of West division strength of schedule over Ohio and Kent, which is the tiebreaker utilized in a 3-way tie scenario where the teams all went 1-1 against the others.

Hopefully this doesn't play out, because if it does, it'll be the 2nd time in the last 3 years that we've gotten hosed indirectly by Temple's entering the MAC. (In 2007 we had a better MAC record than Miami but Miami went to the MACC because only East division games counted)

If BG, Kent, Ohio, and Temple all finish at 6-2, the nod would go to Ohio. If I am reading the tie-breaker correctly, the record between the teams would be thrown out, since BG and Temple did not face each other. The next tie-breaker is your record against rank order within the division. BG, Ohio, and Temple would all be 3-0 here, but Kent lost to Akron, eliminating them from the discussion. It then moves back to head-to-head, and Ohio would have beaten both BG and Temple in this scenario, so it wouldn't matter whether BG and Temple played each other or not. I never thought that Ohio game would come back to haunt us like it has, but the dropped passes and bad spot on the 15 yard line (4th down instead of 1st down) have eliminated Bowling Green from the title game. I am sort of hoping that Temple takes that division, because they are a team we never got a shot at anyways. Temple vs. Northern Illinois is my prediction for the title game, with Northern Illinois winning.
