Ok, it's OFFICIAL!! CONGRATS. First off, the whole, I mean whole city of Mobile will support you, the players and their families. We will go out of our way to make sure y'all have a great time down here. Here's some things that should help you while in Mobile. Since I'm a recent graduate of Alabama, I'll start off by offering these suggestions to students and those that may want to party a good bit.
1. Bars- you will want to be on Dauphin Street Tuesday and Wednesday night. Now these aren't the biggest nights in Mobile, but there will be plenty of people out and about. Last year, the Miami fans all met up at a bar called Boo Radleys. It's a small place, but it's fun. I suggest y'all meet there, then stroll down Dauphin Street and visit the other bars. If you want to see some young Mobilians, you may want to catch a cab to The Double Olive which is an upscale martini bar. This might be a fun place to go early before Dauphin Street.
2. Food- I know how college students eat, so there's a good sports bar on Dauphin called Hereos. Most of the restaurants on Dauphin will be closed both nights, so dining is slim pickens. But it's a fun place, and BG fans can pack it out! Go to Brick Pit BBQ on Old Shell Rd. Wednesday, and sign your name on the wall... order the pulled pork sandwich, OR go to The Dew Drop Inn on Old Shell Rd.. Order the chili burger or hot dog.
For seafood, you can't beat the Original Oyster House on Dauphin or on the Causeway. Also, try Felix's Fish Camp. If you want to have a great meal (pricey) in a fun environment, try Cafe 615 or The Bakery.
3. Sights- the Battleship is cool, but if shopping is your thing, I suggest going to Fairhope, which is just about 25 minutes away. The have all kind of nice shops and a quaint town. While you're there, take a walk around The Grand Hotel and Point Clear. Also, you may want to check out the Springhill College campus.
It has tons of oak trees, and is in a great part of town. Also, the beaches are really nice. Take a drive down to Gulf Shores. The downtown parks- Bienville Square is beautiful. But whatever you do, DONT MISS THE MARDI GRAS PARADE!! Tuesday night Y'all will love it. Both bands will march in it, with the cheerleaders, and there's about 20 floats throwing all kinds of Orange and Black beads. Make sure you're downtown for that. Get there early and catch a bite to eat or a beer at Boo Radleys. There's a pep-rally after the parade on the river that has fireworks and is fun.
I'm sure I will think of other things as game gets closer, but these are MUSTS while in town. Also, if you're driving down please have your car flags flying. Mobilians love seeing the visitors flock down here. Also, wear your team colors everywhere you go while in Mobile. There's a link for hotels on www.gmacbowl.com . Please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected] if I can answer any specific questions. Once again, Mobile looks forward to seeing y'all! Take care

Mobile-Bama is an OK dude. My wife and I went down last year for the Miami-Louisville game. He was a great unofficial host. Boo Radleys is a good deal like some college bars...good fun, plenty of beer, pool table, music.. Mostly a stand and drink, some tables. Enjoy and have fun GMAC was great time...if you go, go early for the parade and pep rallys. Get the whole experience. Mobile, Alabama really treated us right and I would go back if the chance occured.
