HC Al Groh, and presumably his staff, were fired Sunday by Virginia. Groh received a $4.3 Million buyout.

"A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately. An assistant coaching staff will be assembled by the new head coach and it will be the choice of the new coach to determine if any current staff members are retained. Littlepage did not specify a time frame for concluding the search, taking into account the fact that many of the possible candidates will be involved in postseason play. Marshall's HC was also fired this weekend.

Assuming Weiss gets the boot at ND, (and how could he NOT?), it means the Louisville, ND, Marshall, Va. and, of course, Akron jobs are all open... If Bowden leaves FSU, his job is already "filled", and Memphis just hired a new coach.. A heck of a lot of openings for up and coming coaches! (Will Illinois keep Zook?)

Illnois said a little over a week ago that Zook would be back in 2010.
