Looking over the stats and pre game notes from Toledo. It looks like Barnes needs just 5 catches to break the all time NCAA mark for catches in a season. He is currently tied for 3rd.

Have not seen that anywhere else. Amazing.

All-Time NCAA Leaders for Catches in a Season
1. Manny Hazard (Houston, 1989).................................. 142
2. Troy Edwards (La. Tech, 1998).................................... 140
3. Nate Burleson (Nevada, 2002)..................................... 138
4. Howard Twilley (Tulsa, 1965)...................................... 134
5. Trevor Insley (Nevada, 1999)....................................... 134
6. Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech, 2007).......................... 134
7. Alex Van Dyke (Nevada, 1995).................................... 129
8. Freddie Barnes (BGSU, 2009)............................. 129+9

You must have not been looking very hard. We've been talking about it for awhile...and http://www.freddiebarnes.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has talked about it a bit too. Also, someone at the Toledo game had a countdown board. I saw it on the video feed.

Yes all postseason stats count. It looks that Bowling Green is almost a lock for a bowl so we may have a new all-time Single-Season receiving recordholder in Freddie Barnes

There's no such thing as a lock when you are in the MAC.

A couple things we need to hope for to solidify our chances are for Army to lose to Navy on the 12th and for Hawai'i to lose to Wisconsin on the 5th.

And BTW, does anyone know why or when Hawai'i added an apostrophe?

I'm glad you posted this because I was wondering why T walker hadn't mentioned the amount of his catches once. I was very pleased that we won but was bummed he didn't break the record cuz I thought post season wouldn't count.

FWIW, the record for most catches in all divisions is 143 so hopefully he will break that as well :)

I think the Hawaii spelling was a Howlie thing. Of course apostrophes are as well so who knows?

While Freddie breaking the record would be awesome, I think it bears noting that Manny Hazard got his receptions in only 11 games that year. Houston was ineligible for a bowl game and finished the season 9-2 and ranked in the Top 15. Andre Ware won the Heisman that year.

According to the rules discussed a 7-5 team going before a 6-6 team....if the season ended today Bowling Green is a lock. If Army and Hawaii both happen to win then we are on the bubble with Northern.

Correct, just to clarify though, I believe 6-6 teams can only go over 7-5 teams if there is a preset (or conference) bowl affiliation as with Army to the Eagle Bowl.

It's not "howlie"...unless you're a wolf...it's "haole"......you haole :-)
