Eastern Michigan made the decision a few years back they just forgot to tell the team and 16 fans that show up at Rynearson.

I don't have a problem with the spread offense, or any other offensive/defensive system. My problem arises with coaches that become "married" to systems and unable/unwilling to adjust, tweak or change that system for any reason that may arise (injuries, opponent, game situation, etc.) I remember a 4th and (less than) 1 against Missouri when they visited The Doyt. J5 set-up in the shotgun and ran a misdirection play for a first down. I later learned that their system did not contain an under-center "QB sneak". So, the QB lined up 5 yards behind the center, hands off to a RB another yard behind him, to gain less than a yard. It will be interesting to see how much "spread" Florida runs when Tebow departs and the pro-style freshman takes over.

All systems are fine and can be effective in the right circumstance. But coaches place themselves, and their programs, in peril when they stubbornly stick with a system regardless of circumstance.

Dude keeps getting bought out at this pace he can retire early. The BGSU buy-out, the UVa buyout, and he's done rather well.

The way some of these coaches get paid to get fired, it wouldn't surprise me if some of them tank it on purpose. I'm not pointing any specific fingers, I just bet it happens.
