Projecting BG vs. Temple in the Little Caesar Bowl is a little ridiculous. I know they haven't played each other this year, but why would a bowl want two teams from the same conference? Here is what would make sense to me, granted I am a little selfish.
Temple to DC, makes geographic and common sense.
CMU to GMAC, they have the first choice and who wouldn't want them.
NIU to the International, I needed to squeeze OU out west.
OU to Humanitarian Bowl, they get a bowl game.
Finally BG to the Pizza Bowl, its the only way I can watch them in a bowl game again.
This scenario also prevents rematches.

CMU and OU are both guaranteed either GMAC, International, or Pizza. I'm not sure if Eagle Bank goes in that list too since they are a MAC tie in this year. The teams that play in the championship game are guaranteed slots in those bowls to prevent a situation like 2005 where NIU played in the championship game, ended with a winning record, but did not get a bowl game. So unfortunately, no Ohio in Boise. That means in all likelihood we are going to Boise, unless our slot there is taken by UCLA, in which we are either in DC or Detroit, both far preferable to Boise. However, if it is true that the Humanitarian Bowl has been buying advertisement slots in Toledo TV, the writing is on the wall that we are traveling to Boise.
We'll find out in a few hours.

The Eagle Bank is not a MAC tie in. Ohio will end up in either the GMAC, International or Pizza bowl. CMU seems a lock for Mobile. Temple is the wildcard, as they are pushing hard for the Eagle Bank at-large spot, but most projections have them in Toronto or Detroit.MarkL wrote:CMU and OU are both guaranteed either GMAC, International, or Pizza. I'd bet a shiny nickel that BG ends up on the Smurf Turf versus the VandalSpuds.

I know guys it was just a pipe dream of mine. I really want to see BG again and Detroit is the only shot I have. I just thought it was funny for CFN to have two MAC teams playing in a bowl game. Looking at their projections why not have UCLA fill a slot in Detroit and have BG go to Boise seems more feasible. I guess CFN stands for Common (Sense) is For Nerds. (Sorry its lame, but I'm had to much to drink yesterday and that is the best I Can do For Now (CFN).) I am so lame.

That's not as ridiculous as Stewart Mandel's latest bowl projection as of TODAY which have us playing Ohio in the Pizza bowl....not only a team in our conference but we played this THIS SEASON.

Why not play Temple? It's not like they are a real MAC team...

Got a painful, hate-filled reminder of that yesterday during the stream of the men's b-ball game, seeing Temple on a banner in the rafters with the rest of the A-10 basketball schools. Grrrr...It's the Journey... wrote:Why not play Temple? It's not like they are a real MAC team...
