What a tragic end for a troubled kid.

Before the 2009 season, Henry got a new tattoo that matched his new outlook. Below his left ear, in flowing one-inch script, was the word "Blessed."

"I kind of felt like I dug myself out of the hole and started doing the right things," Henry said in an interview with The Associated Press as training camp opened. "People say, 'How you feeling now Chris? You doing all right?' I just tell them I'm blessed. That's why I got it."

Tragic isn't really the word I would choose to describe this event.

As a big Bengals fan I was really saddened to hear about this...this is someone with a bad past who seemed like he was finally getting it together as a person and as a football player. Shame that anyone's life ends that way.

In one way or another, our past comes back to haunt us. I'm a Bengal fan, and I know the trouble Chris had in his life, and the steps he was taking to correct those troubles. J4H is right, its not tragic, but it is sad. Had common sense prevailed here, and Chris not jumped into the back of a moving pickup truck, he would still be alive today. Chris' history of violence and abuse likely reared its head again, and unfortunately it cost him his life. I hope his death can serve an example to those who are troubled, that a slip back into that can happen at any time. I feel for his family, his teammates and his friends.
