It's tomorrow. I think it's safe now.

Fortunately (I guess) I was too busy putting out (metaphorical) fires at work to watch the game, so the loss didn't really have much of an impact. Yeah, it sucked, but considering the context in which I checked the score, it was hardly the worst thing going on.

Great season, great game, and what a year for big Freddie Barnes. Take that, Biletnikoff committee.

Idaho wasn't exactly Texas or Alabama but that's just what I was thinking after the game he had.

I wonder what pushover teams that the kid from Houston (hereafter known as the nameless second place loser) had to play when he set the record Freddie broke.

Wow...why be so nasty towards people?

The player you're referring to is Manny Hazard. When he played for the University of Houston they were a part of the Southwest Conference. He played against Nameless loser schools like the University of Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, TCU and Texas Tech.

My comment was directed at the fact that Freddie Barnes is a beast and there shouldn't be an astrick next to his name just because he plays in the MAC.

To point out a fact, the guy who won the Biletnikoff didn't play Texas or Alabama either.

And he got his record in 11 games. Manny Hazard had an absolute monster year.

I guess my point was misconstrued-I was trying, in my awkward way, to say that his feat was undiminished in my eyes by any perceived lack of quality opponents. I suspect that the lack of Texases and Alabamas on BG's schedule played a big part in Barnes losing the Bilitnikoff. In no way did I feel there should have been any other candidate, much less another winner.

Houston in 1989 had two wins against teams with winning records and a 95-21 win over an SMU team in its first year back from suspension. We needed just about every one of Freddie's catches (which probably wasn't a good thing, but I'll take it. :D )
