Mobile Hotel Rooms

Doesn't look like there are many more left. The Memphis fans are going crazy about the lack of rooms and they are booking up as many as they can. Looks like there might be 15-20k UM fans coming down. Go ahead and book those rooms. If you are having trouble, try Daphne Alabama, which is 5 minutes from downtown or The Malaga Inn downtown. There is also a Holiday Inn Downtown and The Radisson Inn, which I believe is the BGSU team hotel.
Good luck.
One more thing. The Memphis fans have been offered endzone seats. The endzone seats are pretty bad. Even though they're only $15, I suggest shelling out the money and sitting with the bulk of BG fans. If you do sit in the endzones, make sure your seats are near the top to get a good view.

The BGSU hotel is the Mariott mentioned earlier by MobileBama.
GMAC Bowl officials have the hotel booked and we should be able to get some information on how to book rooms within the next few days. Marianne Reinke and a few of the Alumni staff were flying down to Mobile today to look over the facilities. I expect we'll have something by Friday up on the website www.bgsualumni.com regarding the hotel and reservation information.

Mobile Bama--
This may have been posted...Ladd Peebles is downtown, correct? I read on another thread that the place is to be on a couple streets downtown; how far away from Ladd-Peebles is that area?
I appreciate any help.

As far as the Alumni Association providing information, will that info. be available for anyone? My worst fears were confirmed just now: Each hotel I've spoken with on the GMAC Bowl's list is booked solid.

I booked at the Extended Stay America. Not sure if it's great, but it's off the interstate, the rate was great and it's an efficiency, so we'll be able to save a few bucks on food.

Info on that hotel? How far from the stadium? Phone number?

Jham,
Can't answer that for you right now. Marianne and crew were to head down today and my boss gave me the information I posted earlier.
I'll let everyone know as soon I know something.
I can tell you that I was told everything had been booked by the GMAC officials and not worry. They will be releasing the hotel rooms to the respective teams and organizations. If its like it's been for other bowl activities I've gone to with other schools, we'll get first shot at anything BEFORE it opens to the general public (non-BGSU and non-Memphis fans).

That is excellent excellent news. I'm trying to get a group together, but the no-room thing was fairly scary. I'll keep my eyes open for the information!

If anyone out there is a fan of the Band as well as the football team, we are staying in the Raymoda in Downtown. I don't know if that will sway anyone's choices, but we love seeing orange and brown too

It's the Extended Stay in Mobile
Phone: 251-344-2514
It's about 5 miles from the stadium.
I have no idea about the neighborhood, but MobileBama said there are a lot of hotels in the general vicinity, so I'm hoping it's OK (fingers crossed).
Extended Stay

Hey, the extended stay is in a fine part of town. It's right next to Dreamland BBQ, but again, I suggest driving just a few miles to The Brick Pit and ordering a pulled pork sandwich. Ok, here's the scoop on the stadium. It is in a neighborhood. Not the type of hood that you want to be hanging out in after dark. There will be plenty of cops, local people and it isn't as bad as I make it out to be. There are NO hotels within 4 miles of the stadium, BUT Mobile isn't a huge city. The stadium is close to downtown. You will have NO problem getting to the stadium from ANY hotel in Mobile or surrounding areas. Just dont plan on walking to the stadium from ANY hotel. Also, make sure you try to beat the 20,000+ locals that will park in the stadium lot $5...i believe. The neighbors will be letting folks park in their yards, but that is not highly recommended, but again NOT too bad. Don't be afraid to ask the local crowd where and how to park.
Also, try to stay away from taking shuttles to the stadium. My experiences with those shuttleshave been pretty poor. I suggest carpooling to the game with other BG fans. Y'all will enjoy the scenery outside the stadium...large oaks, spanish moss, renovations, Mobile girls, etc. Oh yeah, try and join a "local" tailgate. Many Alabama/Auburn/S. Alabama college girls come out for the game as well. Hope this helps, and keep the questions coming!
suggestions?

Of those planning on going down there, which hotels are u guys staying at? Me and 3 of my friends are planning our road trip right now. We need a cheap place to stay for 2 nights. I mean REAL cheap, even if it isn't that close to the stadium. Any suggestions?

I'm staying at the same place...maybe meet up in the lobby mid-afternoon and share a taxi?? Me and legacy boy will be there around noon, but may walk over to the Waffle House for "comfort food".
To anyone else concerned, this place had about 25 rooms left, all singles, for $50 as of 0800 this morning. They may have some doubles freed up a couple days beforehand from what they said. And it's about 10 minute drive to stadium.
