2010 signee: CB Jude Adjei-barimah

Outlook: Adjei-barimah’s background alone is a success story and regardless of what happens in his recruitment the young man should be proud of his development. Born to parents from Ghana, Adjei-barimah was actually born in Italy. He moved to the United States in 2002 when he was 10 years old and had never ever seen a football game until then. Just six years later, he was a varsity starter and legitimate Division I prospect.

Adjei-barimah learned to play defense because when he was just learning the sport he didn’t know how to catch or hold the football. He knew soccer well, so his best role on the football field was blanketing an opposing player on defense. As such, Adjei-barimah has been playing defensive back literally since day one.

His future lies at cornerback despite his versatility and experience playing all over the field. He has played safety, but his size dictates that cornerback is his likely destination at the collegiate level. At 5-foot-10, he has decent size for the position. Another inch or two would be beneficial as collegiate wide outs seemingly continue to get taller every year.

I really like some of his clips in run support. He is obviously a willing tackler and shows no fear in coming up out of his break and delivering a blow on perimeter running plays. This is a trait college coaches want to see. Many cornerbacks are prima donnas who don’t want to get their jersey untucked or a grass stain on their pants. Not Adjei-barimah. He shows that he can quickly identify a sweep, pitch, bootleg, etc. and make a tackle outside the hashes at or behind the line of scrimmage.

This is just a small article I read on Adjei-barimah from rivals.com and his background was very interesting.
