Well now I'm kinda pissed off...

Post by Peregrinner »

I was searching MGoBlog.com for BG-related articles and posts today, and I came across a forum discussion about the BG/Buffalo game from this past season. I was pleasantly surprised at how the discussion managed not to stray too far into "Who cares! It's the MAC!" territory, and then I came across this post from someone who went by the name "BGwolverine13":
I will be working the BG-Michigan game next year for the BG athletic department...

We're allowed to wear any polo we want to the games as long as there are no logos of other schools on our shirts...

I've worn my striped Maize and Blue polo to every home game we've had here so far lol.

Is it unprofessional to be wearing it at next years game? I will definitely be cheering for Michigan secretly and praying I get a glimpse at Devin/a more improved Denard at some point during the game. lol.

btw, both Freddie and the QB are seniors this year so nothing to worry about in regards to BG having any sort of hope next year.
Wow. With student-employees like that, who needs enemies. If that's the way this individual feels, I'll gladly pack their bags for them and buy them a bus ticket to Ann Arbor. GTFO, weasel-lover.

thats horrible to read. im a bg grad born and raised in ann arbor and i cant wait to go to my first game at the big house to root against michigan. i've been fortunate enough to been able to attend several BG vs scUM games at yost and have always shown up wearing orange and brown. this kid is a traitor and thats coming from the michigan fan from ann arbor who cant wait to watch bg pull a big upset!

Yeah kinda sick to go against the school your going to. Thats as bad as if you were a michigan fan going to ohio state. In all reality I think we may actually get better next year. Im really excited about the QB situation and how that will pan out and Im hoping Geter improves on his running. Clawson took a potentially bad thing last year and turned it into something awesome that came with a Bowl Game and more national attention. With that said, you know that were gonna be a lot better than what this kid thinks we are. His "insider" information isn't worth a thing!!

As much as it annoys me when people cheer for schools other than their own, I've come to accept that there will be poor, misguided souls like that everywhere.

But for an employee of our athletic department to openly disrespect our University (and that's what I see it as - disrespect) by wearing another school's colors, especially when it's the team we're playing, that's crossing the line.

Well...perhaps the maize and blue amongst a sea of brown and orange will make him easy to spot in the Big House... :-)

All T-shirt alums are the same. They think "their" team is the greatest, and their reason for supporting that team is I was born in that state. I am a BG fan and proud of it. I wear a BG hat when I travel and will wear a T-shirt when I can. Two years ago I was waiting for my plane in Madrid and across the terminal a guy yelled BG to which I proudly replied SU. To be a BG fan is unique and one that OSU and UM fans don't understand. We have a connection to this university, we have spent years there and have memories of what it was like to be a part of BG.

I think I'm more upset that the athletic department doesn't have a policy that they have to wear BG apparel while at a BG function.

Drew-

That was a big sticking point for me too. At least a rule that you may not wear the opposing team's colors.

They stopped allowing Gladieux employees to wear other teams' colors (didn't they?), why can't they do the same with their own employees?
