To those driving to Mobile...

Post by buffo 95 »

You may want to give yourselves some extra driving time.

I moved from nashville TN about five months ago here to Williamsburg VA. Unless TENDOT decided to work for a change then I-65 just north of Nashville is under construction...worse than Lima OH in the early 90s.

The bypass (Briley Parkway) is under construction as well and would be no help. However, the construction should begin about 5 miles north of the city and should end around the Nashville Colusium (where the TN Titties play). Once you are through that mess it should be clear sailing at least to Birmingham AL.

Just thought I would pass the news on to the Falcon Faithful!!!

GO BG!!!

P.S. If enough people respond to this, I still have friends who live there and could get an update on the current traffic conditions in the area. Just let me know. While I hardly ever post, I check the site every day.
I may not be alumni...but I shall always be BUFFO!!!

it's looking more and more likely like i will get a group together to leave from BG to mobile for the game. we'll be departing from BG and any construction updates would be helpful.

if you check in often, go ahead and post the updates when you hear them. it will help myself and surely many other people here who plan on making the drive.

I am hoping to drive as well.

Initial plan is to leave BG Monday evening around 10pm and drive through the night to arrive at Mobile mid to late morning Wednesday.

Was thinking of going over to Indy and down or going down to Dayton, then over, any thoughts?

It ends up being almost an hour longer going over to Indy and down. I go to Louisville quite often, and it is MUCH faster to take I-75 to I-71 in Cincy over to Louisville to pick up I-65.

I go down to Alabama/Mississippi every spring and I agree with factman about taking I-75 down and connecting to I-71 south of Cincy. And if its at all possible I like to go thru Nashville in the middle of the night. Leaving at 10 PM will get you to Nashville around 4 AM or so local time so you will be in good shape.

thanks for the updates...

we were planning on leaving BG around 9 or 10 on the evening of the 20th and getting into mobile sometime on the 21st and taking in all the festivities before the game...

it seems like a lot of students are really trying to find a way to get to this game, but are hesitant of the drive... i really think if hte university were to sponsor a bus that the students would really take advantage of it at a reasonable price.

and everyone who is going to this game and went to the MCB last year... remember to bring your orange and brown santa hats.... i only checked in on this board at that time, but i still bought one. i plan on wearing it at the game.

I have TWO!!! *laugh* one with brown, one with white around the "brim"... almost broke it out for the UT game, but it seemed a bit early in the season for that... :D

if only I was going. the work schedule and lack of anyone to make the trip with is thinning my odds of making it to Mobile. :(
