Any Spring football scouting news?

I know it is early yet, just curious to hear how Spring football may be going? Other than the Toledo Blade article anyways. That was about as vanilla as it gets.

Here are some of my observations from today:
http://bgnewssports.com/2010/03/bg-spri ... -march-27/
Best quote from Clawson on the day came about the QB competition:
"We're in an evaluation mode," Clawson said. "We're splitting reps fairly evenly, and we're putting that decision in a jar, putting it up on a shelf and at some point we know we have to open the jar."

Next big playmakers to watch - Kamar Jorden and Sean Joplin. I'm really glad we redshirted both of these guys last year and think we may have some serious talent there at WR. Between those guys, Adrian Hodges and Ray Hutson, I think we'll be fine at receiver this year.
Two questions for anyone who knows -
Is Tyrone Pronty getting a sixth year for missing basically all of last year?
Is DeMark Jenkins officially a tight end now or will he be at receiver again?

Assuming the numbers were correct, Joplin was field punts today. But don't take that for certain.

Joplin is an athlete that can jump out of the gym. It will be great to see him play receiver.

I like seeing Lane Robilotto at safety. The dude is fast, athletic, and very smart. Safety is largely about intelligence and instincts. Lane had interest from Yale, FWIW. As he looks to be stepping into Jamal Brown's role, I don't see him being as physical of an enforcer, but I think he'll step in well in terms of field instincts.

Hodges and Hutson have a lot to prove.

As long as we're talking about WR's, what about Justus Jones? Thought he had a solid game against Kent, (of course overshadowed by Freddie's unbelievable game); Tall and looked pretty fast to me...but never seemed to get a lot of PT after that game.

Yeah I totally forgot about Justus. He had solid games against both Kent and Boise late in the game. I like what I've seen out of him. I'm guessing since he was never seen after Kent he might have been injured in practice. Any word on that?

Here is another report from spring football, including answers to the questions about Pronty and Jenkins.

His case for playing time has to be helped by all the politicians saying "his time has come" and "he won't be denied any longer."

Pretty good blade article:
http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... 03/4020370
- Joplin getting bigger and stronger
- #2 RB battle heating up and strong.
- Open scrimmage tomorrow at the Doyt at 10:00 a.m.
And btw- Joplin was not allowed to play at all last year due to his eligibility...I would not consider that a true red-shirt year. That being said, does he have three or four years of eligibility left?

Heard the German brothers left the team along with another player. Has anyone heard anything?
