I went to my grandparents' to pick cherries the other day. I wanted to make a few pies, and I had a bottle of rum that was practically begging me to have cherries placed in it.
Well, I got there and there wasn't a single cherry on the darn tree. Not ONE usable cherry! Talked with grandma and she said she got enough a couple weeks ago to make one pie, but between the weather and the birds it was not a good year for them. She said there weren't as many as usual, because of the hail the ones she did pick were full of bad spots, and the birds pretty much ravaged what was left
So now I'm not sure if I'm going to buy some cherries to put in the rum, or if I'll just skip a year with no rum cherries. I'm thinking I may have to buy some...a year without rum cherries just doesn't sound right, now does it???
