i just loooked at urban meyers UTAH scedule from this past season and i cant figure out why they are ranked so high. who did they beat this season that was ANYTHING impressive???? at least BG played oklahoma. Utah yes, was undefeated, but what is with all the HOOPLAH. just like all the mention of BG beating teams with losing records, UTAH only beat 2 (TWO) teams with winning records. new mexico and Texas AM. again, what is he going to do at florida?

If he can recruit florida, Urban will win a national Championship in his third year. He may compete for it with Zook's guys....What a roster...

get that headstart in the polls EVERY year, have alot more pull to recruit, a better recruiting pool (though he'll have alot more people fishing from the pool), and probably with in a few short years start seasons with predictions like "what does florida have to do to NOT win the NC", as opposed to "what does Utah have to do to potentially make the BCS".

Urbie's got connections in FL back to his ND days. He'll do fine recruiting in that state. He has a couple of things going for him. Ron Zook was the idiot who replaced the genius Steve Spurrier. Urbie is the hero saving them from the idiot Ron Zook. He'll have much more political capital as a result.

I think Urbie is a great coach. Is he a great coach? It doesn't matter...people think he is. The players in the program think they're getting a Great Coach. That idea alone will bring some confidence back to a program that was shaken up a bit by idea of playing for the idiot Ron Zook. Is Ron Zook an idiot? It doesn't matter...people thought he was...

Florida's current players and recent memories of The Fun 'n Gun will set him up to succeed.

I'll be putting $50 bucks next year and at least $100 down every year after in Vegas that Florida will win the national championship. He will have them competing every year for the title.

Funny, people were saying that he was going to crash and burn at Utah.

I believe he will be better than Spurrier in the Gator environment.

The Notre Dame fans were convinced UM was the be-all of college football until he picked UF. Now he is doomed to fail at UF, his offense is a "gimmick" [sic], and he really hasn't done anything against anybody.

My god you could get whiplash from how quick those folks jump tracks.

UM will do just fine, and even if he goes belly up and dies, he will do so for 2 million a year for 7 years.

Someone mentioned the players not wanting to play for the idiot Ron Zook. For the record, the players loved playing for him and were sad at his firing. We can think he's an idiot all we want, but don't put thoughts and words in the players mouths.

The wrong head rolled at South Bend -- someday soon someone may wise up and stop letting the inmates run the asylums. Eventually, maybe, the effects of the values classes and ethics efforts at places like BGSU might help to clean up some of this mess. Like the article posted elsewhere on this site -- it's not about how soon you get a BMW.

That's true, it doesn't matter how soon you get the BMW, what matters is whether it's a 3, 5 or 7 series. Any fool can drive a 3 series...

For the record, Urban beat 4 bowl teams . . . Wyoming, New Mexico, North Carolina and Texas A & M. He beat them a combined 160-72.

Texas A & M was ranked much of the year as well. Actually if you want to be very critical, the week after he beat North Carolina they beat the Miami Hurricanes.

I think the ranking is very justified and actually may be a bit low considering 1 loss teams like Cal and Texas are in front of him. I think Cal-Utah is a great game and probably a toss up on a neutral field and I think he rolls Texas . . . so yes, #6 is a bit low.

I think it will be interesting to see how Urban does at Florida. I expect him to have success, especially with all the talent he has for next year. What i wonder is how successful his offense will be and if it can put up as many yards/points against better defenses week in and week out.

I dunno about that. Texas is pretty darn good. Their only loss is by 12, to Oklahoma, who is also pretty darn good. For the record, I still think Utah is way overrated. It's shame that they'll end up playing Sh*tsburgh in the Fiesta Bowl, and come out looking even better. I would put money down that Oklahoma, Texas, USC and Auburn would all beat the Utes pretty handily.

I agree on all except Texas. I think the Longhorns would win, but the Utes would keep it close
