So Im sure you guys all know that the toledo game got moved up a week. I think this is a great idea that may bring an extra (student) dimension to the game. What are your thoughts? Like it or hate it?

Love it. We accepted the ESPN Kool-Aid that your rivalry game had to be played as your last game and our bottom line was hurt by a limited crowd showing up.

We'll be there either way. I, personally, like the tsun game the last game of the regular season.

Always a good idea to have a date for the UT game-then if you lose you still have a chance you might get laid.

I wish they move the game up to the first weekend in Oct., that way you can have nice weather for the game to bring out the casual fan.

Blah...there are still casual fans that come to the BG-UT game even in the cold and snowy late November conditions.
It's a given that we have to play a home game at some point in late November. I'd much rather it be the UT game where you might actually get some fans in the seats than any of the other MAC games. I think you can pretty well bet that unless we're having a very good year there won't be more than 5000 people at that WMU game this year. Those late season games are a nightmare for attendance, if you have a chance to put a rivalry game there and salvage some attendance, you do it.

The problem isn't playing it as the last game, it's the actual day they pick and the fact that neither of us have really been playing in the MAC Title game for a while. Winning solves a lot with attendance. Remember playing at the end of the year in the early 2000's? We had very good crowds still then, despite being the last game and on TV.
But the game was like the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, not the Friday after when students are gone and everyone is shopping.....especially when the game is at 11am on Friday. If we were challenging for MAC Titles and playing the game earlier in the week.......in the evening, then we would have the good crowds again.
