I'm really liking the daily camp reports being posted on BGSUFalcons.com.

Me too!
I also must say I absolutely love listening to coach Clawson talk football. There's just something about the way he talks in these interviews that I like. I don't get the feeling that it's coach speak cliche after cliche like it is with a lot of coaches.

He comes across as very genuine.

Part of me feels like we're all just grateful not to be listening to someone who sounds like a complete doofus every time he gets in front of a microphone.
I believe in the setting of college football where athletes are students first that it is important for a man in charge of leading these young men into their futures be be intelligent, articulate, and most of all, know what he's going to say (this entails saying the right thing most of the time) before he ever even is asked any questions.

Dave Clawson could not be more genuine. Win or lose (and he/we all love to win), he is one of the most first class guys I have been around- coach or non coach- at BG.
Go Falcons!

.........nor does he spend most of his time patting himself on the back like a certain other college coach not far from here!

I actually think Beckman has done exactly what Toledo has needed up there. There was a lot of negatives with the gambling and a tough last couple of seasons under Amstutz. I agree that he is a little bit over the top at times, but as long as his players buy in, then he can get away with that. I think he is just trying to get people excited about Toledo football. Now that being said he had better win games no later than next year, or he'll be gone.

Coach Clawson tells it like it is and doesn't sugar coat anything. He is genuine and a great fit for the program.
He's a class act who knows his stuff and I expect we'll see some outstanding results from his team.
Man, only 25 days til the opener...ROLL ALONG!!

Even in a profession rampant with self-promoters he manages to stand out. At the MAC Media Luncheon banquet, he was quick to point out the credit Eric Page bestowes upon him and his staff for developing him and, completely unprompted, managed to reference himself in the third person regarding how excited his team is to have him living in the dorms with them during training camp.
