uh oh......if this is true, then I have a hard time believing that Gregg Brandon will be our head coach in Mobile. I couldn't turn down that much money and I can't blame him if he's gone.

Good luck, Coach Brandon. You definately haven't left the cupboard bare if you do decide to leave...

Whats the word on the buyout situation? Is UNLV willing to fork-over 500,000 bones?
The king is dead. All hail our new leader Stud!

UNLV is 30-61 over the past 7 years and they're recruiting class last year was rated the worst in the Mountain West Conference. Brandon would be doing very well to turn that program around.
Unlike Utah, I do NOT want Brandon coaching our team in Mobile if he leaves.

I think either a booster will pay for that or they will use the money that Utah is getting them for making the BCS bowl. Let's hope that Stud wants the job and he has a someone in mind for the OC position.

man, when I saw the headline this morning I cou;dn't decide how I felt. I certainly can't fault coach for leaving for a 4x salary increase. I don't think it would be good for his career though, but wallet's need packin. I think I could stomach him leaving and Stud replacing him. Stud is a BG guy all the way and the type of coaching prospect who could develop into a fantastic coach that may possibly want to....Oh my God.....Stay in BG!!!! I still can't decide whether I would rather have Brandon or Stud as hc next year, but i think in the long run it won't matter too much because if Brandon doesn't leave this year, he will after we dominate Wisky and BSU (not the cardinals) next year =)

While I have no knowledge of the guy that posted it at UNLV's fan site, nor do I have any doubt that it might be true, is a non-linked message board source what we go on as far as credible these days?
While I know that life is all about making as much money as you can, $125,000 a year must not go as far in BG as it used to.
If we really think Coach Stud is a viable replacement (if the news about Brandon IS true), the GMAC should be a good audition for him, although I think that even with a win with Stud as coach, we should keep our minds open to other options, hopefully while keeping pace with recruiting leading up to signing day in February.

I could definitely see him stickin with BG for a while.

The money is awesome, no doubt. But this is not the same situation as with Urban. Brandon needs to realize this could be his last coaching job at a major school if he takes it. Utah was a MUCH better football program when Urban went there than UNLV is now. I think if Brandon wants to follow Urban's footsteps, he needs to stay put, have a few more good seasons, bowl wins, etc, and then the big opportunities will come.
But damn, it sure would be difficult to turn down 600K.

does unlv have a board?

Yeah, I was just on it. All it has is someone reporting this thread, calling it "a report" without sourcing it, so it doesn't sound like what it is, which is info found on a message board.
