Just got back last night ...

So my little bro and I road tripped down to Troy, I got back late last night, so here's some thoughts I have to give.
First ... big shout out to the folks in Troy, Alabama. They were so nice to us. Very fun, welcoming atmosphere. Sorry I missed you, Hemi Man ...
The game itself.
Offense: At no point did the Troy defense truly stop our offense. Their defensive line came close to taking over the game, but they never did. Our offense stopped itself with stupid penalties, dropped passes, and missed blocking assignments. As those problems work themselves out, this offense is going to be very tough to stop. Matt Schilz was putting every pass where it needed to be. Receivers have got to work on drops, though. For every couple of great grabs by Kamar, there was a drop. And I feel awful for Calvin Wiley. That drop at the end which led to the pick was the game. Those problems will resolve themselves with more time. Pronty played his career best game. Jorden is going to be a good one. This was Wiley's first real action at WR and I do believe the ceiling is high for him. He's a sixth year guy with a lot of heart and leadership and I feel like a breakout game is going to happen soon. Geter is a beast. O line needs more time working together. On the whole, I was extremely impressed with the offense.
Defense: At moments, the BG defense was dominant, and at others they looked totally gassed. When our D line didn't have time to create pressure, our secondary was put in bad situations. Wrap ups have to improve, but I think the defense will be better at that when they don't have to wrap up Jerrel Jernigan. Our DTs are big. At moments our D line took over the game.
Special teams: Wow. I forgot that BG can play special teams! Between Cooper's huge return and Wiley's big returns, I'm excited. It will be nice when we don't have to kick and punt to Jerrel Jernigan.
The trip was great. If you make it down to 'Bama anytime, stop at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. Also the Louisville Slugger factory and museum in Louisville is well worth your time. The folks there were so much fun and we got compliments on how many BG fans we did manage to bring. The band had a great sound. All around excellent experience.
