Week 3 MAC predictions

Up to week 2, here's the totals:

LowryFalcon 18 - 5
bgsufalcon24 18 - 5
jpfalcon09 18 - 5
MarkL 17 - 6
daspollak 7-3
falconfan1999 7-3
VDub26Falcon 6-4
BGFalconfromCincy 6-4

The two FCS beatings of MAC teams screwed a bunch of us up last week.
I suppose I might be able to come up with a prize this year for the winners this year ... winner of highest winning percentage, and winner of most correct picks. Small Christmas gift, anybody?

Week 3 has 2 conference matchups and a ton of Big 10 / MAC games. I hope we as a conference finally get a non-conf FBS win. Here's the games:

Saturday

Connecticut at Temple 12:00 pm
Ball St. at Purdue 12:00 pm
Kent St. at (22) Penn St. 12:00 pm
Ohio at (2) Ohio St. 12:00 pm
Northern Illinois at Illinois 12:00 pm
Colorado St. at Miami (OH) 3:30 pm
Cent. Michigan at East. Michigan 4:00 pm
UCF at Buffalo 7:00 pm
Toledo at W. Michigan 7:00 pm
Marshall at Bowling Green 7:00 pm
Akron at Kentucky 7:00 pm

Connecticut at Temple
Winner: Connecticut. Temple's been unimpressive so far. Will probably be a close game, though. The last two times these two played it was decided by a touchdown.

Ball St. at Purdue
Winner: Purdue. I watched Purdue play last week and they looked pathetic. Ball State looked more pathetic. Purdue wins.

Kent St. at (22) Penn St.
Winner: Penn State. No real question.

Ohio at (2) Ohio St.
Winner: Ohio State. OU is not very good this year but they are known for making this game interesting.

Northern Illinois at Illinois
Winner: Illinois. I want NIU to win but not this time. Illinois should be improved. NIU can beat Minny, though.

Colorado St. at Miami (OH)
Winner: Colorado State. Miami is not a good team, and nor is CSU, but CSU seems less pathetic right now.

Cent. Michigan at East. Michigan
Winner: CMU. EMU often makes this game interesting and very close. I wouldn't be stunned if EMU wins, but CMU is far better.

UCF at Buffalo
Winner: UCF. Should be high scoring.

Toledo at W. Michigan
Winner: WMU. WMU is an all around good team. UT's offense is among the best in the nation ... if you're a UT quarterback with delusions of grandeur.

Marshall at Bowling Green
Winner: BG. BG comes up with a clutch late drive, gets the first win of the season, first home win, and first MAC non-conference FBS win.

Akron at Kentucky
Winner: Kentucky. Akron is really bad. I think they'll win at least one this year but not yet.

Have fun!

UConn @ Temple - I really thought that UConn was going to have a big breakout year. Then they went up to Ann Arbor and looked lost. I like the Owls in this one. Temple Wins.

Ball State @ Purdue - Purdue Wins.

Kent State @ Penn State - Penn State Wins.

Ohio @ Ohio State - Ohio State Wins.

Northern Illinois @ Illinois - Illinois Wins.

Colorado State @ Miami - Miami is bad. Colorado State Wins.

CMU @ EMU - Even in a rebuilding year, CMU is far superior. CMU Wins.

UCF @ Buffalo - This seems like a toss-up to me. Coin flip came up heads, UCF Wins.

Toledo @ WMU - Toledo is really, really, really bad. WMU Wins.

Akron @ Kentucky - Akron might be worse than Toledo. Kentucky Wins.

Marshall @ BGSU - I think that the Falcons are tired of losing and ready to take down the AZZholes that hail from West Virginia. BGSU Wins.

UConn @ Temple - I wanna believe Temple can win, but I think UConn will get things figured out and win a close one.

Ball St. @ Purdue - If the Cardinals can't beat Liberty, they won't beat the Boilers.

Ohio @ Ohio State - Buckeyes win a blowout.

Kent St. @ Penn St. Nittany Lions take out their frustrations on the Flashes.

NIU @ Illinois - Illinois stinks this year, but NIU isn't good enough to take them down, especially on the road.

Colorado State @ Miami - Miami is bad, CSU isn't much better. Taking the Rams.

CMU @ EMU - Central wins, even though Eastern looks a bit improved by their standards.

UCF @ Buffalo - Taking Buffalo, the MAC has to win one of these games, right?

Toledo @ WMU - Western can somewhat move the ball, UT can't. Broncos win at home.

Marshall @ BG - Marshall is deflated after the tough loss to WV at home, BG wins its home opener.

Akron @ UK - Akron sucks. UK in a blowout.

I lose at almost every competition I enter when it comes to things like this.

Connecticut at Temple 12:00 pm
Not much commentary for this game. Both teams are bad, but UConn wins.

Ball St. at Purdue 12:00 pm
Purdue. Ball St. is pretty terrible.

Kent St. at (22) Penn St. 12:00 pm
No contest. Penn St. wins easily.

Ohio at (2) Ohio St. 12:00 pm
Another non-contest. OSU wins by many scores.

Northern Illinois at Illinois 12:00 pm
The upset special of the week. NIU wins narrowly.

Colorado St. at Miami (OH) 3:30 pm
Not really an upset, but with two terrible teams, I think Miami can hold off the Rams to get the win.

Cent. Michigan at East. Michigan 4:00 pm
Central wins. EMU might win a game this year, maybe not.

UCF at Buffalo 7:00 pm
This will be close, but UCF will win.

Toledo at W. Michigan 7:00 pm
Western shows why Toledo is so bad. WMU wins in a slaughtering.

Marshall at Bowling Green 7:00 pm
I have to pick BGSU. We beat them last time in our house. We have the talent. BGSU by 10 points.

Akron at Kentucky 7:00 pm
Kentucky wins. Easy choice.

"I hope we as a conference finally get a non-conf FBS win." ~ MarkL

That might be the saddest sentence I have ever read in 5+ years on ay-ziggy-zoomba.com. After two weeks, the whole friggin conference doesn't have a single OOC win against another I-A opponent? Holy moly.

Ahem, to the picks:

Connecticut at Temple - Temple
Kent State at Penn State - Penn State
Ball State at Purdue - Purdue
Ohio at Ohio State - Ohio State
Northern Illinois at Illinois - Northern Illinois (big upset win, hopefully the Huskies don't let me down a 2nd time)
Colorado State at Miami - Colorado State
Central Michigan at Eastern Michigan - Central Michigan (I haven't picked EMU in over a year, it works)
UCF at Buffalo - Buffalo
Toledo at Western Michigan - Western Michigan
Marshall at Bowling Green - Bowling Green
Akron at Kentucky - Kentucky

The MAC is young, and I have a feeling in 2 years we will have a lot of respect.

Now onto my picks:

UConn: Temple isn't has good as the preseason hype.
Penn St.: Josh Cribbs couldn't help the Flashes in this game.
Purdue: Sorry Ball St. Purdue isn't a Pop Warner team, no win this week.
Ohio St.: They look good this year, lets hope Pryor doesn't fatten up.
NIU: This is are win over an BCS team this year.
Miami: I'm only picking them because its a home game, CSU has to travel two time zones, and Miami is coming off a win last week.
CMU: I want to pick EMU since they seem to pull this upset every year.
Buffalo: I guess I'm just pulling for the MAC on this one.
WMU: I don't think I will ever pick Toledo.
BGSU: Marshall coming off that crushing defeat will be a friend on Saturday.
Kentucky: A Powder Puff team could beat Akron right now.
