Sorry if this has been posted, but I just read that the Doyt will now sell beer in the stadium this year. Maybe this will bring some student in from the tailgating area.. even though tailgating will be a huge mess now with the famous spot by the hill taken away..

At $5 a beer? Students? Doubtful!

Depends on the size of it...I assume it will be Miller Lite or Bud Lite...if it's a good size beer (20 oz. or larger) $5 isn't that bad.

I love it. Students will pay $5 for a Miller Lite.

This sort of kills one of the benefits to join the Falcon Club. Hopefully this will be more of a moneymaker than a headache.

Personally, I believe this is a horrible idea. What possible upside does it have? And no, I don't count making money as an upside.

Why not? I have gone to hundreds of Dayton basketball games where they sell beer and have rarely seen a problem.

Those who are going to drink to get drunk already did, for 7 hours before the game started. I don't see a problem with trying to make a few bucks.

This is the MAC. Anything that makes money for the Athletic Department is a HUGE upside.

I'm inclined to agree with 137 too...nobody is going to be getting drunk to the point of disruptiveness on $5 beers. Those of us who get drunk and unruly will do so before we go in the stands ;)

........and I'm sure certain members of the athletic administration will be patrolling the stands to immediately throw anyone out that says "boo" about anything!

They said they were capping it at 2 beers per person, but how will they enforce that?

The only way I see it is marking the wristband they give you with a sharpie, but even then people will try and find a way around it.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Depends how much they invested in the system. Most arenas now swipe your ID and keep track of how many you've bought.

I think they mean two beers per transaction. That's the way a lot of NFL stadiums are now.

If they want to bring in students, allow them to charge the beers to their meal plan. Its a win-win for BG. Every student 21 and up will get a meal plan, and they make a killing on selling overpriced beer.
