Well that was one of the worst performances I have ever seen in a Falcon QB in my 28 years of following Falcon football. Pankratz may be a wonderful kid and eventually may turn out to be a great QB but it appears the game is moving too quick for him. There is a reason he didn't win the starting position at the beginning of the year and obviously has not made any further strides forward over the past couple games.

Here are his stats from today's game: 12/37 for 176 yards 2 TDs. 3 Int
(Take away the deep ball he completed to Pronty on the blown defensive coverage and the 48 yd bubble screen to Geter and he would been 10 for 35 for 80 yards. Not sure what the rating in college sports would be, but in the NFL that would be a 7.2% rating. OUCH

So the question will be, will Clawson pull the redshirt or have confidence in Pankratz over the next two weeks and continue to play him as we play our next two games away from the Doyt

Pulling Hurley's redshirt makes no sense with Schilz returing soon. Now using Pagel...that's another story.

I would like to publicly retract the nice things that I said about Pankratz.

I was wrong.

Schilz dressed today, so hopefully this is the end of it.

I am in no way bashing on A.P. But at this point in the season if Schilz cannot play our next game then we need to look at other options. Clearly A.P. Is not our #2 Qb on the depth chart.

A clear sign of Clawson not having confidence in Pankratz is when he decided to go for the 2 pt conversion after we cut the lead to 9. The reasoning behind this is so that the coach knows further in advance if we need 1 score to 2. If he had confidence in A.P. He would have kicked the PAT to cut the lead down to 8 and go for 2 on the next TD. But Clawson wanted to know right then and there if it was going to be a 1 or 2 possession game. I hope Schilz will be available next week

Actual Stats: 71.9 QB rating (NCAA) - 32.1 QB rating (NFL)
w/o TDs and long passes: 30.6 QB rating (NCAA) - 3.8 QB rating (NFL)

definite ouch....

You must use a newer formula from what I have been told to use as I actually gave him a higher NFL QB rating. Regardless, that is not a good effort and then throw in that we only rushed for 9 yards! Double ouchie

The QB play was painful to watch with happy feet, locking on receivers, and forcing throws. AP had the one good play where he pumped and threw a TD. That was a nice play and one which should have gained him some modicum of comfort [which it didn't.]

With that type of play, the offense never got going and the defense [bless their hearts] were on the field more than they should have been.

Hopefully Shilz will get back to the starting lineup and put AP in a back-up roll to gain some confidence. He certainly didn't show it today. With that said, I have trust Clawson will develop him more during the season.

I just keep looking at the football team and remembering...YOUNG TEAM...YOUNG TEAM...YOUNG TEAM!! Our future looks bright....hang in there football fans!!

I also have to remember that we started 1-4 last season too. Granted, we had Sheehan and Barnes last time, but there's still a possibility of great things this year.

In all fairness one pick was thrown at the end of the half, and another was after his own receiver tipped it up in the air. It wasn't pretty, but I am happy that Schilz should be back soon.

He looked rough today for sure. He has a strong arm and makes some nice throws, but at the same time, he makes some maddening decisions with the ball too! He doesn't have much experience, so I'm not ready to give up on him yet! Beat the Bobcats next week!

Yes. We could sense this going in just by looking at the depth chart, but this team is simply not built to win consistently this year. Throw in the injuries and a non-conference schedule with 0 breather games and you're looking at what we've got now. We've got to develop the depth to overcome the injuries when they occur and the competitive will to close out and finish the close games.

During the game yesterday, I was just amazed how neither team wanted to win. Everytime Buffalo had a chance to put the game away they handed the ball back to us. Then when we had a chance to get something going, we couldn't move the ball. Buffalo really should have blown us out. Regardless, after they fumbled the ball at the end, we have to win the game. Why did we just run right into them three straight times? The coaches have to know our kicking game stuggles. At least try to get the ball closer for the kicker. We are young, but I don't like what I'm seeing at all from this team. I don't think Schilz coming back is going to turn us into a contender either.

My only thought on the QB situation is that I would rather "burn" a redshirt on Hurley, IF he truly is better than Pankaratz at this point (I have no idea), than lose a league game at this point and basically turn off all of those in attendance for the rest of the year, and draw, maybe 10,000 for the rest of the games. After all, who knows what Hurley's or the QB situation will be in 3-4 years. Injuries, academics, and even a possible recruit better than Hurley, could effect all of this.
Shouldn't attendance be a major incentive clause in coaches contracts?


Sheeeeesh........we were drawing 10,000 in the old stadium with an enrollment 7-8,000 students back in the early 60's!!!! Maybe its the AD!!

It was painful, no doubt. Pankratz looked very uncomfortable out there after looking decent against Marshall and UM. I wanted to see what Pagel could do in the 3rd quarter. As far as Hurley? Burn the RS if he can help you win. You MUST have a good backup QB to win in this league. The offense was going nowhere...and the play calling was questionable at best. Run Geter up the middle every first down? Really? Why not try some sweeps with him...the dude is FAST.

All I know is I hope Schilz is ready to go Saturday in Athens....
