Re: BG Lineup At OU Released
Articles in the Blade and Sentinel Trib have coach Clawson sounding far more gloomy about Schilz than the above indicates. It sounds like he may yet take the redshirt off of Hurley

Yeah, it's the blade, but it does not look good for several starters:

FINALLY!!!! lol Hopefully now we can get that offense going again. If we can pass the ball we can finally get willie some yards on the ground.

Re: BG Lineup At OU Released
The lineup from the football dept. has not been officially released. Players will find out more at today's practice.
If you noticed at the Homecoming game, the video board wasn't even close to the starting lineup on the offensive line. Players were moved around on Thursday after Blaec wasn't able to go.

Re: BG Lineup At OU Released
I wouldn't look too much into the lineups released by the website, although I would assume that Schilz must be probable for the game. After starting 1-4, I would think the coaches would look to shake some things up a little bit with the defense. My guess is they wouldn't change until trying some things in practice for the week.
Re: BG Lineup At OU Released
This handling of the QB situation has to be the first major mistake Clawson has made in his time here, as far as I can tell.
If Hurley is better than Pankratz then he should have played in (and started) the Buffalo game. The Red shirt is simply not that valuable. Especially considering Schilz is only a RS Freshman too, so if Schilz stays healthy next year (and is still #1 on the depth chart) you just RS Hurley next season. NOT a big deal.
The Bottom line is if both of these guys look like they are starting caliber QBs one of them won't be here for the entire 5 years of his career anyhow. He'll transfer out to get playing time. It is stupid to hurt our chances to win games now in order to save a year of eligibility 4 years down the line.
Now, if Hurley isn't actually better than Pankratz, then this makes sense. If that's the case we're screwed until Schilz gets back, because Pankratz is really not playing well at ALL. Happy feet dancing in the pocket, not seeing open receivers, missing the guys he does throw too...it's been BAD. His stats for the season really don't show how poorly he's played since they're really inflated by a few really long passes...most of which were just screen passes that our guys made plays on.
I'm hoping that Schilz is ready to go, but if Hurley is the 2nd best QB on this team I think Clawson has screwed the pooch on this one. I can understand not taking the RS off for the UM game, but not for league games.

I hear ya Brian, but Clawson has not really done anything yet to make us doubt him. He sees the QB's in practice every day so I have to think Hurley is just not ready yet. While he may have more talent, I imagine that Pankratz just knows the offense better.

Very true. There is always that possibility, I don't know. It just seems like there were a number of rumblings from people who saw practices/training camp that thought Hurley was the 2nd best QB on our roster.
If that's true, I think the situation has been mis-handled. If they're even, or Pankratz is better, then I just stand by my statement that we're screwed until Schilz comes back.

Re: BG Lineup At OU Released
I noticed this at the Buffalo game and can see it in the picture above too....I was wondering what the heck we did to make our FieldTurf look liked it was mowed?! It looked liked crap in places, like a herd of cattle had bedded down in between the hash marks, especially on the north side of the field. And we also had a ring of rubber pellets outlining the MAC logos on the field. My guess is we brushed the field when it was soak & wet or something and it looked bad. It's hard to mess up the appearance of a FieldTurf playing surface, but we somehow seemed to have found a way to....

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
