Lots to work on...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

It was a long drive back from Athens. Schilz looked very solid...the kid throws a great ball and hung tough. He is gonna be a great QB. The WRs seemed to be celebrating "Braylon Edwards Appreciation Day", which was very frustrating. Schilz was putting the ball where it needed to be and we were just flat out dropping passes. The D didn't play as poorly as the past 2 games but still gave up a couple easy TD passes and 257 yards rushing. Ohio U isn't that good of a team but we didn't respond. Some of the playcalling continues to baffle me...every opposing team knows Geter is coming up the middled. That the kid still gains what he does is a testament to his power and determination. We had a golden opp right at the start of the game and didn't capitalize and then had to settle for 3 on the 2nd drive.

We're not very good right now...young team, making mistakes, blown coverages and such. I think, though, the biggest area of concern is the lack of intensity and urgency. I did not see any emotion on the sidelines yesterday after not seeing any for 3 quarters against UB. That lies on the Coaches and Team Captains. IF we don't start showing some heart and get pissed off about losing, it is gonna be a long 6 weeks.

On the positive side, made the trip down with Rob and tailgated with MajorFalcon's flock! We had a blast and the weather was beautiful...although the sun was pretty damn hot. It sure is different when you don't have a pool to fall into with a cold drink like in Jamaica. :D Met Jarius Campbell's mom and Dwayne Wood's girlfriend...that was nice.

This team is gonna have to dig deep now...when things aren't going well, it can wear a team down...especially a young one like this. Just keep fighting, fellas. Take em one game a time and get a win in Phila next week.

GO FALCONS!!!!

I pretty much agree across the board. It was a long trip to sit and watch that kind of game, especially coming off the way we lost last week. It was hard sitting there when it was 35-3 and hearing some of the Ohio fans say that Wofford played harder and gave them a better game. It also did help hearing the "BGSUCKS chants" and frankly, agree with them. That said, we are a very young team. I do have faith the future holds a lot of promise but it sure would be nice to see the type of team that showed up against Marshal again. The thing is, the MAC is so mediocre, there isn't a single team I would say we couldn't beat, but if we keep playing like we have in the MAC, we will struggle to get another win the rest of the year. Any shot at flirting with a MAC title (as long of a shot as it was coming into the year with this team) is now officially over and I'm not about to kid myself we're capable of winning out and also getting the kind of help we would need. I think it"s been over a decade (1999) since we started 0-2 in the MAC (Gary Blackney's next to last year) and since we started 1-5 (2000). We are now playing for pride and the future the rest of the way out.

We should never be 35-3 behind OU. Period. It doesn't get any easier this week. Suck it up!

Agreed, vs Ohio, or any other team in the conference. I remember not long ago being the team that was leading a game like that, not the one looking up like we were.

We are in the rebuilding phase of a cycle. Keep getting solid recruiting classes and coach up some of these Freshmen and Sophmores, and in 2 years we have a shot to win the conference title.

Definitely agree with FalconFreak.
Atleast for me I had a trip planned for the rest of the weekend. However this weekend would have been a lot better knowing that the Falcons won. Everywhere I went there was an Ohio fan and everywhere I went I was talked to about BG losing, especially at the Bob Evans farm fest, seeing my car is covered in BGSU stickers and all I had on was falcon gear. This was my first time down to Athens and I gotta say, it is really a beautiful campus. Lots of hippies but non the less still beautiful. The stadium as well was very nice but VERY small. The noise was definitely not an issue. It was SOOOO quiet in there even after big plays.

To get away from all the bad play the falcons showed this weekend, It was funny that Ohio fans had to be told when to cheer.
I thought BGSU was bad with the whole BG-SU chant but the PA guy at Ohio was saying things like "Its 3rd down, makes some noise for your bobcats". And the everytime they got a first down he would shout "that another Citizens bank first down Ohio",talk about advertisement!

But going back to the subject of this thread. The Falcons have A LOT of work ahead. Were talking a totally overhaul. This team couldnt beat a high school team. I swear if its not one thing its another. No consistency on offense. Either Pankratz is in stinking up the place with his bad passes or Schilz is making great passes just to be dropped by the reicevers. At least our defense is consistent. That is not stopping anyone on offense.

I just hope we can salvage this season with at least 3 more wins. Either way I will be going to the rest of the home games, yes it might be hard to watch but I just love this team to much to stop supporting them.

GO FALCONS!!! Try to beat the Owls!!!

Please tell me that they make pants with BG logos on them. And what's with the "hippies" comment? Hippies MAKE the world beautiful!

I have been to well over 100 college campuses across the country (including over 75 that play FBS football and most of the Ivy League) including every MAC institution. Without a doubt, Ohio and Miami are by far the most beautiful campuses in the MAC, period. And both schools can more than hold there own against many other schools out there across the country in appearance. Ohio (1804) and Miami (1809) have been around much longer than a school like BG (1910). But it goes to show how constructing a univerity with buildings that resemble what a college should look like with a collegiate appearance compared to a bunch of mix-&-match buildings with some that actually resemble objects can do. All the trees and non flat-as-a-pancake terrain certainly help them both too (especially Ohio). I think some parts of BG are pretty (like the main quad and our older flagship buildings such as University Hall), but there are other parts of campus that have me wondering who in the heck decided "Let's do this."

How do you get to such and such a building?

Just go to the building with the red bricks and white exterior trim. Oh wait - that's all of their buildings.

I used to hang around in Vinton County a lot and I can tell you some stories about Athens hippies. Met a few who went into agriculture in Vinton County after leaving OU. I suppose true hippies don't carry guns all the time but the naked girl running the roto tiller seemed pretty hippiesh....

OU does seem to be starting to gell a little- I think BG caught them at the wrong time.
