Dumb call or Gutsy Move

What are your thoughts on Clawsons choice to go for 2 ? Was it a dumb call or a smart play. I know people say on the road go for the win but I think that's just a football cliche.
I think you tie the game and man up in Overtime.

I think excellent call. You've got a young team and you want to show confidence in them and their ability to come up with a huge play. You've got a unit that has been missing extra points recently. You've got a defense that has played well in the fourth quarter but gave up huge plays in regulation. You've got several players out with injuries and you don't want to give opportunities for more injuries. Go for the win and give your guys a vote of confidence.

I agreed with the call at the time. It's hard to agree that it was an excellent call given that it work.

Good call. Our defense couldn't stop a senior citizen from slipping behind our defense for 6. It was an aggressive call and I like it. Wasn't happy with the execution, but I like the call.

Based on our placekicking lately (another missed PAT in this one too - blocked), it was a good call.

Good call. Not sure the play selection was the best though. I didn't care for Brandon as a head coach but he did have some sweet two point conversion plays...like the one that won the Minnesota game with Freddie taking it in.

Last post is right. Its really the only call when you break it down. With our placekicking we couldnt match what them. We would have had to go for a TD every time.
Not sure why they didn't just run the play they ran for the TD again. There were 2 or 3 guys open on that one.

I thought it was a great call. When they scored I said to myself "Go for the win, just go for the win" and I would say that to myself 100 time over again. You've got a team that has been struggling and had the momentum going our way. Great gutsy call.

I think the call to go for it is fine and I don't falt clawson for taking a shot at the win. The issue I have is after the fact when coaches / Fans give you the oh woe is me we had to go for it routine. The we didn't think we could stop them in OT or we didn't have anything left or it was our best chance to win.
1) First the percentage of a successfull 2pt conversion is very very low so odds are against you.
2) You just played this team to a tie thru 4qtrs now all the sudden you are scared to have a red zone shootout because now you feel they are so much better than you?
I just never liked it when coaches basically admit that they feel they have no shot to win in OT when the just played to a Tie for an entire game

I like the call and support Coach Clawson 100% on it. I'd rather seen a roll out with Schilz having the option to run if nobody was open.
Still, play to win...I love it. As much of a Brandon supporter as I was when he was here, his "play not to lose" mentality usually bit us in the AZZ.

Uh, keep in mind our last two drives. Next to last ended on a failed fourth down conversion. Last included a miracle 4th down Hail Mary catch within the five and a TD pass to a player who had never in his career scored a TD as time expired. Do we really feel confident playing more? The team played great down the stretch, but they were extremely lucky to have the opportunity to win at the end. I still agree, it is best to try to win it on one play, not win it on a red zone shootout.

Great Call!
Sheehan made this work at Minnesota a couple of years back.

I have a friend, who is a senior at BGSU, who said the call was stupid and Clawson was just being aggressive because his job is in jeopardy. Needless to say, this guy is as ignorant as they come.
