Why I won't go to another game at home this year

Besides from the team just being really poor...mainly due to a huge lack of talent and injuries way to numerous to mention...the reason that stadium will not see my face again has to do with the atmosphere in the stadium.

We struggle to get a few fans there and then we have to be subjected to continual issues with the stadium speakers and the referee microphone.

And then that lady from marketing or wherever comes on before the game screaming into a microphone AGAIN with the volume too loud.

And then after every stoppage in the action they blast horrible hip-hop or whatever that garbage was so loud that I had to cover my ears.

And what was up with that gawd awful new third down music that sounded like an orchestra percussion section warming up?

And one whole gate open up before the game so everyone has to wait in a long line when there only a few fans there to see a poor team???

Whoever is in charge of the game day experience at The Doyt better get their act together or we will never have anyone excited to go to a game!

Addendum:

Warren Ruggiero...or whoever is calling our plays really needs to go. They tried absolutely nothing to get the offense into any sort of rhythm other than the same failed play over and over again. My 10 year old could scheme against our offense right now.

I'm going to say that the students like the hip-hop music. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean no one else does. What would you like them to play, some country-western?

I liked it. At least it wasn't the damn bell tolling like every other college stadium in America.

This one can be frustrating, but it just takes a little patience. I got in line at 3:14 and was still in my seat by kick-off. The line moved efficiently and quickly. If you don't want to wait in line, go into the stadium a little earlier.

I'm not saying the game day experience is perfect by no means, but those type of things are no reason for not showing up and supporting the players on the field.

Aren't those all responsibilities of the AD, just like the W-L record that we talked about in another thread?
Those are just a few of the other reasons, excluding your coaching comment, why I have quit giving any $$ other than tickets, for concessions, banquets, 50-50 tickets, programs, bricks and designated Falcon Club funds (they don't seem to stay designated) until a change is made at the top. No, the W-L record isn't everything, but its very important if you want a successful athletic program, because people quit attending (like you), and the whole athletic program falls in disarray from lack of intrest and funding, but I guess it's the only way to get a change at the top.

I also hate the music being played at college games (not just BG) during timeouts. There are students with large, gold-colored metal objects in their hands wearing orange and brown uniforms. I would much rather hear their music than the latest Lady GaGa "crap". This isn't the NFL or NBA. Most folks come to the stadium for the game and "unique" atmosphere of that stadium, and not the artificial stimuli conjured up by an over-caffeinated, or over-served, entertainment director. Not everyone in the stadium is a college student!!

As far as the bells tolling; AC/DC - Hell's Bell's. I'm not a rocker, but that is a great song, and those bells are chilling.

Why not have the band try to play those new songs? I personally dont care about the band at all, but would probably miss it if it was gone. I would be more interested in having the bands play those songs, or some version of the band, play those songs then anything else. Would be interesting to see what they could come up with. You dont need the entire band to play a song.

I agree. A couple of years ago in the Motor City Bowl (it was then), the FAU band played, and performed the video routine of Micheal Jackson's Thriller. It was very entertaining. Again, I don't need some idiot with a megaphone doing The Dougie during a timeout.

Personally I don't care what our record is. Whether we finish 1-11 or 11-1 I will be at the games. We have a talented team that just CANT move the ball right now. I am excited for the next few years and I still have faith that coach clawson can make this team great again. Its gonna take awhile to rebuild this team from the Brandon era, Clawson just needs to get his kind of players in to run the offense he wants.

Let me be clear, I still support our team and I will likely be at the game at Central on Saturday. I just have no desire to go to a game at The Doyt and be subjected to a screaming chick, crackling PA turned to 12, horrible hip-hop music and a symphonic cacophony of bells and gongs. It's really embarrassing.

That my friend is very true. I know that part sucks and I don't blame you. I just gotta be there.

I actually would love to skip the dance (or rather lack of dance) contest.

The PA system needs fixed! That's for sure! But what was up with the band playing the same time music was being played over the PA. Let's get it together people. I agree with footballguy51, the dance contest was very poor. It wasn't even entertaining. They need to get rid of that and the little kids racing to get dressed in a football uniform. That's stuff I expect to see at a minor league baseball game, not an NCAA football game. The lady screaming on the PA, "it's time to make some noise" is lame as well. Just my 2 cents!

Wow! Not coming back because of the music and such.

I would much prefer the band be featured with some of their traditional tunes that get the fans moving. At the same time it would be nice to find a Jump Around tradition like Wisconsin. It seems that marketing is trying too hard right now and too often. Find 3 things you like and go with them. See if any stick and dump what doesn't. Then try 1 or 2 new things the next year. Again dump what doesn't stick.

But let's keep the band involved. I have been amazed for years to see the number of video cameras during halftime. This indicates the number of friends and family the FMB draws. Keep them coming, keep them involved.

During one of the early games, the marketing girl totally screwed up the BG! SU! cheer. That was bad. What was worse, though, was that she had to announce "let's do the BG SU cheer." Crowd pumping cheers aren't announced ... they just happen. If she had just stepped out and yelled "BG!" I bet the crowd would have responded with "SU!" and there, you've got the attention and energy of the crowd.

Brian from marketing does the same thing at basketball games, forced cheers should be a no no
