Why can't they get it right

We have had issues all year at multiple levels and it makes me believe that the coaching staff just isnt doing their job. The kicking game is atrocious and after hearing all the faith that Clawson had in Burkhardt over Stein last week makes me laugh to see it blow up in his face. I dont like the offense, I dont care much for the defense right now and if it werent for Gates e wouldnt even be able to put a point on the dang board. If your 1-7 and things are working its time to change things up. Switch up the offense, change up the defensive scheme, and make an impact in the kicking game. Im tired of watching this crap Clawson calls football.

The problem with the kick last week was not on the kicker.......it was the offensive line. The kick and hold were fine, but it was blocked right up the middle.

This is also the same team that hung with one of the best teams in the MAC. I know you and I can sit back and say change this and change that, but if we do not have the players to do it what good is it? Kicking stinks, put more time in at special teams. Offense, be nice to see what we could do if we had our first string offensive line up there. Defense, well they're bad, but they are also tenacious.
We are a young team, and this was always going to be a rebuilding year. Sure it could have gone better, but sometimes you have to play the hand your dealt. Let's support this team to the finish, and look forward to a better year next year.

i dont care if it was blocked straight up the middle i was on the field at the goal line where the kick was taken and as a kicker you have to get it higher....trust me when i say this that kick if it hadnt been blocked woulda hit the center in his helmet.....

Unfortunately, I must disagree with that. The kick was blocked by a defender who had his arms above his head and was at about the 4 yard line. The center is at the 2 or 3, and his helmet is not above a defenders hands. Was it lower than it should have been? Possibly. But, this guy came through the line virtually untouched, and the kicker would have needed to sky the ball to make the kick.

I agree, that kick had no chance. I would really like to see the tape to see where the breakdown was. It was almost as if the guy was offside or maybe the snap just never got out in time.

if we would have made that kick we could have had 7 instead of 6. i think we could have won if we made it. too bad.
the bottom line is that there is a lot of issues with the team that makes it frustrating to support them. but our record could easily have 3 more wins instead of just one. they are dealing with a lot of adversity... multiple injuries at the beginning of the year, a new starting quarterback, an extremely young team, no running game, defenders not using proper tackling techniques, kicking game is bad, and a coach who is only in his second season here. and i'm sure i'm missing some.
the good news is that... these things can all be fixed, or will change with time and game experience. i don't think coach clawson is ultimately pleased with the way the season is going, and understands people are frustrated and expects them to be.
i don't doubt clawson is doing the best he can with what is going on... some of these things as a coach you can't control, and some of them you can. i'm not ready to call for his head. i honestly think what the team is experiencing this season will make them better next season and the season after. and in a couple of years we will have a decent team again.

Coach Clawson has built programs from nearly the ground up and won everywhere he was a head coach. His track record tells all of us that fact. I am amazed at some- only some- of these posts. We need more players, more luck and probably a lot of things I am forgetting. I believe we will get there.
Go Falcons!

Sounds right to me. Clawson's proven he can build a powerhouse...it rarely happens overnight.

I just saw something in the Blade about this being one of the worst starts in school history (not the kind of record a "new" coach wants to have).
Meanwhile, our "friends" to the north are doing much better than expected this season under a former BG coach.
These are two things I did not really expect to happen quite this way this year.
Yes, I expected a rebuilding year, but it has kind of all unraveled in a hurry.
As I'm not as close to the program as a lot of you folks, perhaps it's time to start talking about reasons why the future looks bright so people like me don't become too discouraged.

I believe it is because we are putting in a totally new offensive system and it takes a couple years to get the new recruits in place.
Also, our upper classes were left virtually bare due to academic issues and recruiting issues from the prior coach. Then throw in all the injuries and we don't stand a chance to compete on most weeks...even in the weak MAC.
