Suisham to get another Tryout??
Suisham to get another Tryout??
The Lions will audition kickers on Tues, Nov 9 to replace Jason Hanson for a couple of weeks while he heals from an injury vs the Jets. Shaun is reportedly on short list to tryout for Patriots who are replacing the injured Stephen Gostkowski, while he heals.

I just don't get how Shaun can't seem to hold on for a while with one team. I mean, he's a pretty damn good kicker. I don't watch enough NFL to say for sure...those of you that do watch the pro's, what's the deal IYO? Is he not consistent enough at the pro level?
Hope he can stay active in the NFL...

I think it's the Kickoff's Freak. NFL teams can only afford one placekicker and they want guys who not only can hit a high percentage but also consistently hit the end zone.Falconfreak90 wrote:I just don't get how Shaun can't seem to hold on for a while with one team. I also don't think his maximum range hits the 50+ area that most NFL kickers do.

Re: Suisham to get another Tryout??
I agree on the FG's...seems today's kickers can, for the most part, easily hit 50+. Shaun's best at BG was 52 down in Athens one year. As far as kickoff's? I don't see many hit the end zone. Maybe I just don't see enough.Redwingtom wrote:I think it's the Kickoff's Freak. Actually, I can't make it after all. Carpool will be getting back too late and I have an important budget meeting at church that I can't miss. Shayne Graham signed with the Pats. Dave Rayner signed with the Lions.
Re: Suisham to get another Tryout??
According to the Free Press the Lions worked out both Rayner and Suisham but decided to go with Raynor. A couple weeks ago when Tynes was out for the Giants they worked out Suisham and Shayne Graham and went with Graham. At least he seems to be on everyone's short list.SB-50 wrote:Shayne Graham signed with the Pats. Dave Rayner signed with the Lions.

I wish I would have known before. I would have gone down to Allen Park and given Rayner a couple of "Noonan, Noonan, miss it, miss it, Noonan". Damn, I feel like I let Shaun down.
Re: Suisham to get another Tryout??
Shaun might get another chance. The Bengals placed Mike Nuggent on IR with torn knee ligaments today. They will hold tryouts tomorrow.
The Steelers are reportedly going to cut Jeff Reed this week. So the Stelers will hold theri own tryouts later this week.
Shaun's got to get the nod at one of these places.

Re: Suisham to get another Tryout??
I'm surprised Nick Folk isn't on the chopping block after Sunday's performance. Sure, it was an off day, but NFL teams have little patience for kickers.
ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: Suisham to get another Tryout??
Especially one that was already let go by another team because of his incompetence.footballguy51 wrote:I'm surprised Nick Folk isn't on the chopping block after Sunday's performance. Sure, it was an off day, but NFL teams have little patience for kickers.

Shaun was with the Steelers in 05 and did well in training camp including hitting a 45 on national tv during the preseason game.
I read on a Pittsburgh blog that Shaun is the only kicker being brought in today. Jeff Reed's time in Pittsburgh needs to come to an end.
Re: Suisham to get another Tryout??
just found this on the Tribune website

this article states there are other kickers, but no names.

Re: Suisham to get another Tryout??
Jay Glazer has confirmed Shaun is the new kicker for the Steelers and Jeff Reed has been released.

Great for Shaun, but...ugh.jpfalcon09 wrote:Jay Glazer has confirmed Shaun is the new kicker for the Steelers and Jeff Reed has been released.
Guess this will give Reed more time to work on his photography...
