Sitting in the stands....

So I am sitting here in the stands and this is what I have noticed thus far.....

This team lacks emotion. We have been out gained 150 yards to 15. Yes we only got 15 yards of offense the entire first quarter. Our offense has more penalty yards than offense. Our Defense is out of position. We only have 5 to 6 guys in the box to stop the run and have 5 and sometimes 6 DBs in the game. Even after a turnover the team wasn't fired up. We sacked their QB and the players were talking amongst themselves on the sidelines. Our coaches need to fire up our players!!!! Show some energy!!! And not sure how the ESPN sign on tv looks if it has even been shown but here at the stadium it looks pretty bad. Fortunately we are only down 7-0.

This team lacks imagination. I have watched a little over 2 quarters of football and have seen maybe 5 different plays. Screens are effective when you push the ball deep, but not when you run them every other play. The last 4th and 10 I watched, they ran an out for 5 yards, but the ball got blocked. This team sucks.

Well, that was 3 1/2 hours that I'll never be able to get back. Pretty bad for a game that was already about a 2 on the ole give a s**t meter.

I can only hope that our offensive coordinator is shown the gate at year's end, otherwise we might be subjected to this crap for a long time coming. Ugh.

Funny how we all said the same thing last year with hanging 31 on Troy, 36 on Kent, 35 on Miami, 38 on UT, 42 on Idaho ...

Another tough, close loss. Props to anyone that stuck it out to the end. I almost gave up at home a couple times just because I couldn't see what was going on.

Game-related - I could not have been more bored watching our offense most of the night. It looked like we burned all but 3 pages of the playbook. I'm sure that most of that relates to our inexperience and ineffectiveness on the offensive line, but slamming Willie into middle of the line and tossing incompletions on screen plays was tough for me to watch.

I thought the defense kept us in the game with the turnovers and some timely stops. Miami racked up a bunch of yardage and I think they could have run it right at us all night with very little trouble, but the defense doesn't get the blame for this one.

Overall, I'm not that bummed about another loss because it's about what we should expect. No holes for a running game, missed tackles everywhere, dropped passes from senior wide receivers, and missed field goals. Ho hum.

Does anybody know why we always seem to have trouble with the refs mic on TV games? Maybe it just seems that way, but I feel like I'm always wondering what's being called when I watch a BG home game on TV.

Why did they allow the cannon to be fired after the fog set in? What a mess. Kickoffs were dicey at best. Is there something in the MAC bylaws that says weather has to suck for BG-Miami? Mud, hurricanes, fog- earthquake next year?
(yeah, I know that's not weather)

I think they fired the cannon 3 times in a 5 minute period. I assume it was fired after the Jorden overturned TD, again after the Schilz overturned TD, and again after the Geter TD.

I propose that the next BG/Miami football game played in BG on a random Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday night in November be played at the Field House. Arena football rules apply.

Just got back. I enjoyed the effort the second half. Interceptions that could have changed the outcome - one off the hands of the receiver and the other? I don't know if the reciever was supposed to run an in instead of an out or the ball was thrown to the wrong side or poorly. Either way should not have happened but sometimes it does.

Firing the cannon was wonderful in the fog. It added smoke to the fog and if the TD was scored on the 1st or 2nd review the smoke was hanging where we were going to kickoff. Home field advantage at it's best. Smoke and fog cleared before finally punching it in.

Tough year. Lots of maturing up front. Offensive line struggled early again. Defense failed to stop the run. And #8 was everywhere everytime they needed a reception. Glass is slowly filling to half full and we'll come around soon. Orange glasses securely on face.

Miami fans seem to think that our team and theirs will contend for the MAC the next 3 years. Outsiders are seeing something developing..........

Sheehan and Barnes Mark, Sheehan and Barnes.
Exactly. With the right talent, our OC knows how to score points. He's got young talent right now that isn't fully developed yet. Thanks for helping to make my point.

That weather delayed game in 2005 was awesome! Five picks, three safeties, BG blowout win. I vote next year for raining fire in Oxford for the game.

I've thought the effort has been good all season, except for Ohio. The execution on the other hand has been poor very frequently. That's explained by any number of discussions here in the last two months.

We gave great effort against Michigan and Kent State? Really, I could have swore that we laid down in both of those games.

Evryone keeps talking about young talent, I haven't seen it! I see young players playing on offense and defense and yes there are a couple good players but some people talk about our Young Talent like we have studs out there that will morph into all mac players once they become juniors. Are we the only team in america that plays freshman and sophs. What I saw last night was a nice 77 yard touchdown catch by a wr, a couple nice def plays by our LB surrounded by a bunch of average players . is schilz going to be an all Mac QB down the road? I think he's got a decent arm with no mobility, we have average running backs and 1 legit deep threat at WR... Don't confuse young talent with just young...

The offense was vanilla, only threw it downfield once the team got behind 21-7. I understand the OL isn't good enough to sustain blocks but that has to change next year. Same old story will this team, get behind, come back, lose a close game. It's getting too repetitive to blame on the players, the coaches need to take some flack for it. Its obvious the game planning is leading us to trail in games and needing to rush and come back.

1-4 in games decided by 3 points or less. That is coaching and that also needs to change next year. Getting tired of it.
