I am not sure if i am being a realist, an alarmist or a defeatist but part of me is afraid that we could be left without a chair if more aggressive realignment happens. I like to go to the NCAABS board because they discuss Realignment a little more, a topic i really enjoy. Every so often the idea of addition by subtraction comes up. I have only ever seen EMU discussed but I am not really sure why we aren't? We seem to be in a pretty bad situation. Not a great market, very poor recent teams, not great academics and very poor attendance. I am just doing this off the top of my head so please correct and add but in terms of teams that can claim these as a positive.

I am pretty sure that change happens so slowly that this won't ever really be a problem and that we can always tie in with the directional michigans and ball st and whomever else is left, but it was just a thought. What makes us stand out? As a fan I am biased so I tend to think our lot is better then it is....If we had to make an argument to Con USA to accept us down the road what would we say?

I don't see any of the twelve full time members being invited to join a bigger conference. No one brings any market that bigger conference would be interested in. I think more likely is that the MAC and Sunbelt picks up the scraps of a dismantled Conf USA. The MAC's biggest strength is that its members aren't wanted by anyone else. My only worry for football is if these mega conferences completely shut out the MAC from bowl games and possibly even Ed football all together. This is all driven by money, and MAC football just spends it. They don't bring any in.

Tied for 11 Nationally by US News and World Reports for its commitment to undergraduate education.

The College of Business Administration is ranked in the top 25 nationally by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (one of two Ohio universities in the top 25).

The College of Education and Human Development is ranked in the top 15 nationally.

We're in the top 10% nationally for our Cooperative Education program.

The College of Business Administration is ranked in the top 25 nationally by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (one of two Ohio universities in the top 25).

The College of Education and Human Development is ranked in the top 15 nationally.

We're in the top 10% nationally for our Cooperative Education program.

I did not mean to touch any nerves there, afterall it is my alma mater as well. However, it is I think a tier 3 University in general. Sure we have a few great individual programs but in general we don't seem to be on OUs or Miamis level. Afterall they gave me a degree didn't they. And with honors.

I also don't doubt the commitment to education. I think there is a large commitment to education and they do great things, I just think we can more easily be lumped in with the rest of the 11 MAC schools and it does not make us stand out.

Out of curiosity, when you say tier 3, what are you considering? I'm a mathematics PHD student, and I know we are considered a tier 3 research university in mathematics. I don't know if that means we are tier 3 for all PhD programs, or just mathematics.

General. USNWR Which has us ranked 170 at this point. I thought I had seen Tier 3 before but it has us listed as Tier 1. 170 aint great but tier one is fine by me.

To say OU is a better Academic schools is questionable logic at best MIAMI yes, but OU KENT AKRON BG UT are all on the same academic plane just depends on the program BG (EDUCATION) OU(JOURNALISM) UT (PHARM) ect..

All eleven of the...uh, Big Ten universities are ranked ahead of Miami. The preceding sentence should tell you all you need to know about the usnawr ratings.
